My boat is dead with a sick engine so with a couple of hours to kill before dinner, I went out to Chisolm park in Hurst. This pond is 5 minutes from my house. Its been a while since I fished there but thought I'd give it a try. It sure was busy. Anglers all around the pond and folks feeding ducks and doing all kinds of family activity. Can't complain about that after all as it is a public city park. In fact it was kinda nice for a change to watch life go by and chat with good folks who wanted to know how you were doing. I stayed for about 2 hours and fished two poles, both loaded with luncheon meat. The bite was pretty constant. On one pole I had a bobber and on the other a slip sinker rig. The slip sinker is the one that caught my two cat fish. One was about a pound and the other maybe 2 pounds. Both returned to the pond. A blast to catch on the ultra light tackle I was playing with. I didn't see anyone else catch anything which seemed odd given the bites I was getting (and missing) but I guess I just got lucky with place and time. Took some videos which are available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWBEBtVEFVASure was a lot of urban wildlife there. Families of ducks were under my feet all the time. Tame as possible and some fisher bird flew in and stopped three feet away from me which was kinda neat.

Sounds like my last time out, lots of bites but no one catching , the ones I was getting was coming off of bread of all things.
Common Sense has become so rare that it should be considered a super power

Because I had a blast yesterday, went out there again. This time from 5pm till 7pm. The park was very, very busy and almost every peg was filled with an angler. During this visit, there wasn't a single bite for me and I saw none of the others land a fish. I spoke with one chap who said there was going to be a stocking today. I'm afraid I had to doubt that ... I couldn't imagine a federal or state agency doing that kind of work on memorial day.
