Can't say exactly where but rocky shallows are treating me good. All fish caught on live or fresh cut shad. Pics are from Wednesday and yes the front chased em off but not for long. About to go try for some big blues... Will post if I find em

Nice blue. I was debating on where to take my son this weekend, LL, Lavon, or Tawakoni. We don't have a boat so, I like to take him were he can at least catch a couple without boring him to death.

Big Boi, All 3 lakes would be a good choice especially for cats. The key is fishing the wind blown side of the lake in 5' of water or less with fresh cut shad caught with a cast net. If you get the big shad, fillet them and use strips of bloody fillet. For smaller ones put them on whole and cut them a little to make them bleed. When your bait dies and doesn't bleed anymore when cut it is time to get fresh bait again. It is hard work sometimes, but this method is very productive and entertaining for kids. Throwing a net for bait keeps them entertained sometimes more than catching the big ones! Good luck and hope this helps!

Thanks for the help. I usually take him to Tawakoni and let him wrestle drums, but we are going to salvage a few this time, so it's cats and crappie we're targeting.

I wrote "main lake bank" because they were out in the lake as opposed to in the creeks where they have been makin' love for the past few months. Not all the pics were in the same location. These fish hunt in huge schools chasing shad around all over the lake. Find the bait, fish the points and you will catch 'em.

Just got back from the lake and had another great day! No hybrids this time but caught over 100 keeper sandies. All fish were released except a few bleeders and big fish were given to my fishing neighbor (nice to meet you Marcus). Some really big ones in the mix with one going almost 18 inches. All fish caught using live and cut shad. Get out there now guys cause spring won't last forever!

In between Little Elm Creek and LLELA. I'm not fishing the same place every time. The fish follow the bait so I find the bait and toss it out for 'em. Don't get stuck on finding a honey hole that always holds fish, these fish are always on the move. Today I fished the second place I stopped at because the first (a place I caught a limit the last time) had no bait and no fish surfacing. Drove a bit and bingo! You have to get out to the lake and go find them! Good luck!

Well, had a meeting early morning so didn't get out until 9:30ish. Fished a wind blown part of the lake and got about 60-70 fish before the wind died, sun came out, and sand bass left. Only 2 under hybrids caught today. All fish caught on good old live and cut shad. Only kept 3 fish that were deep hooked.
The cut in the old dam is an excellent fishing spot that can be reached by taking I-35 exit Swisher in Lake Dallas. Go over the new toll bridge and take a right. I can't remember the name of the street, might be Garza? The road ends at a small parking area and you can walk the entire rip rap point. It is a long walk to the end of it, so pack lightly.

Good job Sumsum! Trying to decide where to fish tomorrow. Winds change to south overnight and I'll bet early morning the water will be like glass. Might make finding the fish more difficult. Will post when I get back...

That's OK man I know what size fish I have been catching. Forgot to post my last trip too. Went on Monday with my sis and her boyfriend and fished until about 1. First spot started slow at sunrise, almost went elsewhere when they started boiling all over. Caught lots of fish until around 10 the shallow bank bite died. We could still see 'em out in the deeper water but couldn't reach without a boat. It was hard, but we left to another spot I know they like in the afternoon. No boiling at the new spot but they were there, the bite was lighter, but they were big! Was still catching fish at 1 when I left. Filled a very thankful man's stringer with magnums before I left with a sunburn. Glad to have another good day because I know the spring bite won't last forever. Gotta work tomorrow but I'll be out Friday for sure!

I haven't fished Stewart's Creek this year but I'll bet they are there. I don't have an annual pass and have too many other spots that are free. Tomorrow is looking good with some decent winds and some clouds. The wind should change from south to north afternoon and may change the fishing a bit, but I should be ready to head home by then. Bet they will be hungry...

Well I hope everyone did better than I did this morning. Got to my first spot and there were guys fishing with about 15 poles out on my point so I drove to spot #2. Only got 10 fish with 5 sandies and 5 dinky hybrids. All fish were released. The highlight of the morning was when I was catching bait. I was wading around and found myself in a large school of big buffalo! They were so thick they were brushing against my legs while I was walking! They are a blast to catch so maybe next slow day I'll see if I can battle a few of these.

I went out this morning to the blown up dam. Got there a little late, about 10:30 am. There were a few guys with about 7-10 poles in the water. I fished a little ways off of them, never got anything and did see them catch anything either. Fished for a good 2 hours. There were fish jumping around us, but no excitement on the poles. I think if I would have got there earlier, I probably would have caught some.

i was in a pontoon boat this morning in the cove by the old lake dam cut. saw lots of guys out there but they were throwing as far as they could into the lake. i was fishing for cats but the sandies and hybrids were running me out, i was throwing as close as i could to the bank. you guys might think about fishing a little closer to shore when the shad sre running like they are now.

That is some sound advice Tom. Most of the time all I use is a little split shot on 6 lb test to catch them this time of year. No need to launch the bait 50 yards. Oh yeah, and thanks for offering me some shad the other day! Didn't know who you were until I saw Gravley on the back of your truck. Thinking about heading out today. Hope the weather doesn't shut the bite off. Will post if I go.

Well, no fishing today. Got to the lake and my favorite Fenwick rod had snapped in the back of my truck from everything rolling around. It was the only one I brought so had to go back home. That wind is kickin' out there! Birds were stacked heavily on the points feeding. At least the birds caught some fish today. Maybe next time...

That sucks about your rod man. Looks like we are both in the market for a new rod now. I went to a fishing tournament once and somebody came in the night and stole all the rods from people's trucks and boats! Mine were luckily in the hotel room with me because I was putting new line on 'em. Guys were out fishing with zebcos and shakespeares they bought at the bait shops!
