That's why I applaude the Bud Lite Tournament Series...You can trailer for every torunament...because they do have polygraph.

See Yah on the lake...!

we had one there in 2007, what was it gust up to 55. I was there They allow trailering. Everyone is responsible for their own judgements if you dont think you can drive in it. Keep it on the trailer.

It is interesting how hard up people get for a 20k top prize or a 1k top ten. I've got more than that invested in my equipment. We are use to 20-30 on Amistad but you get 30-40+ and you have a different story.

I was pre-fishing last Thursday on Amistad, wind forecast 29 to 39. Put in at Box and by 1PM the winds were 40+ with gusts to 57. Took out at around 4 and it was very dangerous at box with a northwest wind, several boats tore up, ramp is flat and with the waves trying to get on the trailer skag was banging on the ramp with every wave. Could not tie to the dock it looks like a snake going across a hot sandy desert. Be careful at Box.

Dave, I was there as well last Thursday, it was awful just as you explained and those high winds did not stop till 10pm that evening. I know Chad and Jeff are on the road headed to Del Rio now, but be assured they are watching the weather forecasts so they can make their decision. They have our best interests in mine as far as safety is concerned. They both are the best Tournament Directors I have ever worked with over the years. thumb

See you all at Amistad and lets go fishing fish

If you go out in 40+ winds on Amistad you are pretty hard up IMO.

Don't forget a 25 mph wind will be 30 -35 down in the canyon over the lake. Think of it as a pop bottle blowing into the large end and exiting the small end. BIG DIFFERENCE!

I was on Lake Meade in a tournament when the winds came up to 40 with gusts way over that; my Ranger filled with water with two BIG-ONES over the bow and the biggest problem is you cannot steer and are at the mercy of those big breakers coming in from all directions. The waves were so tall you could not see over them. My partner had never been in a bass boat and had never fished for bass, it was so bad I tied us both to the boat. the wind finally put us up on the bank and that experience did him in. When we got back to weight in, he said nothing just walked away... So I remember being 6 foot talk and bullet proof but you cannot steer if your boat is FULL of H2O. Be careful.

The big blue can get real ugly real quick. I have seen the Black Brush dock completely torn loose by winds and waves. it's a great lake and wonderful fishery. Use common sense but, don't ever treat her (Amistad) like you would other lakes when it comes to high wind.

It Isnt about if you think you can drive in it, Evil Kneivel Thought he could jump 212 Buses, Looked how that worked out. The common Sense thing is to reschedule, May as well take your 300 bucks and drive out on the bridge over the lake and let it go. Yes someone will win, But I doubt it will be because they got there spot and used there Mad Skillz(lol)to beat you.

Last week Wunderground.com had Del Rio Predicted to have 39 MPH winds on Thursday. As of right now the winds on Wund are only predicted to 20 Mph for Saturday. Im sure they will be a lot higher as I always figure a 10 to 15 MPH fudge factor. As for as no one being able to get to their fish thats BS. Many prudent fisherman know that prevailing winds at Amistad are from the North this time of year and scout accordingly. My two cents.

I was there in 2007 and it was a weekend that was just like this weekends forecast. BC's allowed us to trailer and did a great job accommodating the winds. I heard the wind was up close to 60 that day but don't know for sure. What I do know for sure is that was the biggest water I have ever been on and we took our time and I was never concerned. They were rolling and you can work with rollers. For those of you who might remember there was at least 1 and maybe both 60ft houseboats that got swamped died up to Diablo. Be careful, keep your wits about you and know your limitations. It isn't worth the risk.

No reason for all the crying and whining...either fish it or don't show. The Dawg is a lot smarter than he looks smile wink

Also remember Judd it was unlikely you were in a Ranger and that really helps with the confidence factor. haha

Im afraid more than chin straps will pucker in those winds, as for running in that kind of wind on lakes, I havent found the fish yet worth my boat or my life, common sense gentlemen, I know some of you are the "macho men" and will run in any weather, just remember, the fish are always there, we are not. Good luck to all who do go and brave it, I hope everyone comes back safe.
