I am mainly a freshwater fishermen but i bayfish around 7 or 8 times a year. Do the inshore reels like the Daiwa inshore and the Quantum catalyst inshore work just the same as a regular freshwater reel? I was thinking about getting the daiwa inshore for an extra reel for freshwater fishing and then when i go bay fishing i would be good. The daiwa is not to pricy and i already have a good freshwater reel. Was looking for a backup reel.

saltwater reels are all about corrosion resistance. The coastal is a good reel, but I'd go with the curado 200e7. Great all around reel for inshore use.

does the curado have the corrosion resistant parts? If i have regular freshwater reel like the abu garcia revo s and i use it in the bay maybe 5 times a year is it gonna screw the reel up fast?

not if you take proper care of it. I used to do just fish my freshwater gear, but really got sick and tired of taking apart my reels and cleaning them and putting them back together after every saltwater trip, so I just went with saltwater reels instead. The curado is saltwater approved and is a workhorse of a reel. Good enough for large bull reds and not overkill for specks.

just go with abu garcia 5500 or 6500 for about $59-89. just wash it under low pressure with water hose, air dry, and lube after the trips. i have all 6 of mine for about 12 yrs now.

Isn't it a pretty heavy reel? I consider anything over 8 ounces in a baitcaster to be heavy though. I've never used one so I wouldn't know, but the only people I've ever seen using that reel were throwing bait. It doesn't seem like a reel you'd use for "finesse" fishing.

the citica description says its saltwater approved. So i guess that means it has corrosion resistant parts? so if i got the revo s and it doesnt have the corrosion parts and therefore would corrode faster in salt water right?

I have been using Citicas and Curados for years without incident. I tried the Abu Garcias and went to a Citica and haven't left Shimano since.
Just my 2 cents...

I have a couple of Abu 5000's from about 15 years ago that still work great. I didn't do much more than a hose wash after each trip. They are heavy though.

Someone on the barter board has a Shimano Stella 3000 FD for sale. That would make a great inshore reel.

They are excellent for inshore use. I have a 6500 C3, a 5500 C3 and a 7000i all get worked hard on big drum and reds. Wash them out under the hose and put a little lubricant on them and they are ready to go when you are.

I would agree with that, too. IMO the 5500 C3 is light enough to use as a bait caster. Finesse fishing with it would be a stretch though.

I use the revo s almost exclusively in saltwater. They hold up great, and i only clean them once a year, besides rinsing them off with the hose real quick.

I'm going to plug my new favorite one more time: Picked up a Offshore Angler Inshore Extreme reel during Bass Pros sale. It is the best spinning reel I have used in the salt.
