Well going into this me and "Fish AKA Wanda" knew it was going to be tough no matter what Lake I took him to. Well, I figured why not take him to a Lake he has never seen, and is a cold water Lake in the cold... smile

So on Sunday morning I had Jerry meet me in Rockwall where we set out to Lake Quitman. A 814 acre lake that's just SE of Lake Fork.

Jerry had enevr seen the lake before and had NO idea what was in store for him, well with out anymore delay here's "Fish AKA Wanda's" "Day On the Water".

This is Jerry talking about see'ing the lake for the first time.

Before I get into his day, I want to show you what the water looked like around the lake...This Was The Clearest Water We Found"...

Jerry leaves the ramp and heads up the lake about 1/2-3/4 of a mile and stops at a little pocket trying to feel the lake out.

The shallow bite wasn't happening and the Muddy Muddy water was already playing into his thought procces, he turns the boat around notices something moving on top of the water and moves out a little.

This video I get some close ups of how he warks the spinner bait and he also talks about how fishing has changed from his yunger years.

He now heads to the back of a creek trying to find clear water.

He didn't even make a cast in the creek, and moves out to the mouth...

I'll be honest at this point Jerry is really giving it his all, but the water is so cold and muddy, and he's so out of his element, he starts going to look for any clear water or to see what locals might be doing...

This is a cool video of Jerry showing us a trick on jig trailers

This video he shows us how he flips weeds and grass, and why. He gives some pretty good info in this video..

Well, after about 10ish I think, I decided to move Jerry to Fork to let him atleast have some water he felt good about. We fished for till about 2:30 with the same results as Quitman, with no bites.

I have to say these might have been the toughest conditions I put a angler in for day on the water. He was really blown away by the 38 degree Muddy Muddy water. Jerry I can't beleive how you stayed that positive and never did give up. Even though you struggled....Very Very Very Very Bad...LOL

We still learned a few things, and that's what it's all about..

I will be the first to say I got a good old fashioned butt whipping on Quitman.I was really worried going into the day about fishing in the cold water temps. But when I saw the 37,38 degree water I must admit that worry turned into panic! Then when the sun got up enough for me to see how muddy the water actually was panic went away and thoughts of suicide began to creep in. LOL.This was by far the worst water conditions I have ever fished and now here I am with my silly arse on camera trying to look calm cool and collected.I think there are a lot of guys that could have done better with those conditions than I did and there a lot that couldn't.But I will take my lumps like a big boy because that is part of the whole thing with DOTW. I want to thank Casey for inviting me to do the video.{by the way Casey did I leave my crying towel in your truck?]

I will tell you, I live right there by the boat ramp. If you look across the soccer fields at the brick house next to the county barn, That's me. I have fished the lake a few times this year and talked to several people at the ramp and I have see NO ONE report anything decent thus far. If you saw a red/white Skeeter out there, that was my Dad and some friends in my boat. They did not get a bite either. I have heard this little lake is nice, I guess, like Fork and all the otehrs, I will have to wait a couple weekns to see for myself.

Take him back to Quitman at the end of March for a re-do.

The first 2 still photos is where you need to start.

Congrats to you and the crew for doing this. I think these dotw's are great for local lake info. Guess that's why I'm a fun fisherman. I can pick my day and my water. Thanks, guys.

Wow. I feel for you Jerry. We have all had days like that. Heck, even the guy behind the camera. Its days like this that make you appreciate those warm water spring days that are just around the corner. But hey, you learned something new as did we. That is the name of the game.
Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the DOTW.

I finally got to sit still and watch all the videos.. AWESOME Job to both of you. Having fished Quitman for quite a few years I feel your pain for this DOTW that lake has been to both extremes in the last 8 months from being 5' low to being 8' high, I have pictures of that dock you fished in the creek when you couldn't see anything but the top and the 4 post supporting it.. LOL. You did an awesome job of breaking down the lake and for 2 or 3 hours fishing you managed to hit quite a few hotspots... Very impressive for never having been on the lake.

I'm very impressed with this series more than any other I have seen.

that is one tough day. seems like at 1030, you should've just opened the cooler, fired up the bbq, and smoked some brats and drank some miller lite
