I have heard that they are going to wait until after the spawn... wich for a power plant lake means that If they wait for summer the water is gona be HOT HOT HOT, I'm betting the best fishing at squaw will be once it starts to get cold again next fall...

But that doesn't mean I wont try before then LOL

Heard there used to be smallmouth and walleye. Rumor has it they aren't there anymore, water got too hot for them over time. Good LM bass tho. It's been a long time since the lake has been fished thoroughly. Who knows what's swimming in there these days. Can't wait to find out.

I like the summer time fishing on Squaw Creek, the water is hot but you can have the lake all to yourself. I used to catch more bass in the summer than in the winter. I guess it was due to there being hardly any pressure on the lake in the summer. I would'nt catch as many big fish but who's gonna complain about catchin a 100 bass in the 2 to 5 pound range!!!!!!

I thought the 2 - 5 lbs were the size of the swimbaits you use there.

Here is the e-mail I got last week.

The People Team is seeking volunteers for cleanup and maintenance of Squaw Creek Park on Saturday, February 13th from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Several tasks need to be completed prior to the park opening for boat fishing on Squaw Creek Reservoir in May.

The areas of focus will be as follows:

* Remove grass from the asphalt parking surface in order for the parking lots to be striped

* Cleats and bumpers need to be attached to the newly upgraded boat docks

* Preparations for installation of buoys and cables to restrict access to the intake and discharge areas of the lake (Jerry Bales' construction group will install the buoys)

* Boat ramps need cleaning for safety purposes

Thirty volunteers are needed to complete the above tasks on the first work day. The first thirty volunteers will be invited to a Work Planning Meeting on Thursday, February 11th to discuss the tools needed to accomplish the work. Additional work days will be needed before the scheduled opening, therefore giving others the opportunity to volunteer.

Following the work activities, the plan was to allow volunteers to launch boats for a few hours of fishing on Squaw Creek Reservoir. However, Security will not allow boats on the lake at this time.
