north and west of the lake texoma... we get a good heavy rain event around there more inflow to lake texoma and the corp will run water longer and with enough rain they might run the flood gates fishing at DD is most of the time better when the water is running...

Report: fish from 4 to 7

during generation, i only had one bite and it was a monster bite that dragged my line like a train for 7 sec and broke off the line... actually the leader... frown frown Had i had the original leader which moonriver has setup for me, this wouldn't have happened.... That piece of junk bobber i got from the exxon got busted after about 20 casts, forced to tie a new leader with a new bober, for some reason i put a 15# testline and that was the mistake.. frown Never got a close look at the fish, but was able to see its body when it made a splash from the distance.. it was big... still thinking about it and kept thinking about it.. And time to forget about it..

well, after generation, i managed a limit of 18, 19 inchers.. but didn't make me happy cuz i was already spoiled with the one i lost... frown man.. that fish still has my jig in its mouth, can it survive?

i have 40# green testline, can i use that to use as leader?

how do you guys make those bobber more durable? what glue/chemicals are you guys using?

by the way, people by the generation doing bottom fishing, what are they going after? carps, cats?

Probably a paddlefish you hooked onto. I fished the surf all day Saturday, only caught croakers, whiting, hard heads, and about six or seven 18 inch or so black tip sharks!! Hahaha fished the sand bar with spoons but gave up when the water got too deep, tide was rising and booked it back closer to shore. Back to work tomorrow I go.

you will catch alot a striper depending on the bait you use..... but thats another reason i don't fish holidays there to many people on bottom most the time not always.... i went crappie fishing took my wife we brought home 6 good keepers the biggest was 14 inches long she blew through 2 dozen minnows quick i was useing jigs most the time.... but we caught just as many bass as we did crappie it was fun she wants to go again tomorrow so i'll take her....

Dunkky, don't throw away ur busted corks. I will show u how to repair them, make them 1000 times stronger. I make my own corks long time ago, and my corks float better, cast better, last a lot lot longer. Usually I use at least 20# for my lead, this time of the year, I use 25# lead. The jig u have can hold up to 20# striper. Any fish bigger than 20# will bend the hook, that is 2/0 hook. Last time I only show u how to fish in one spot, there are few more spots where u can fish if u have the right set-up. I will be there again Tuesday. Hope see u there.

Just got back from freeport with Wilson, KrazyQ, LiteLiner, and myself. Will post a report tomorrow, and Wilson is working on the video. I'm tired and sore as hell now. IT WAS A HELL OF A TRIP GUYS!

I know this is the denison thread but here's a freeport report anyway since theres quite a few here that are interested in saltwater.

Headed off from DFW around 9pm with the 4 of us. Thanks to snagged, he donated about 300 bucks worth of sushi from his restaurant for the road trip. Ended up eating half in the truck and saved half for later. Lite-liner was the driver so igotsnagged ended up having to feed him with a pair of chopsticks. Got to sugarland around 2 and decided to park at HEB's parking lot to sleep for 2 hours. We ended up launching the boat around 5:30 and headed off to the oil rigs. It was a bit more windy sat than anticipated and a bit more choppy.

Saturday wasn't that great. Everyone was tired from no sleep but......
- igotsnagged landed a 4ft blacktip,
- lite-liner landed a 20pnd or so blacktip as well
- lite-liner landed a nice mantaray
- kq landed a small bull shark
- We all had about 8 king hits and runs but failed to land.

Heat and dehydration kicked in and so we headed back to the hotel or motel.

Also got a report from Krazyfish fishing sat morning off the surfside jetty and he did quite well. Smacks, pompono, and specks.

Sunday:

New day and a day for redemption after a good night rest and a better gameplan. Headed 15 miles out. Seas were bigger around 2-5ft.

- 7 kings 1 smack caught on cigarminnows and ribbon fish freelining.
- 1 more blacktip

Decided to try the blue water half a mile from the jetty and try something new.
- 1 25pound cobia caught by me. that cobia swam right next to the boat so i tied on a redtail hawk and pitched it 5 ft out and BAMM. zzzzzzz
- whiles chumming, KQ saw a giant dorado next to the motor and screeammed ddododododododdodoododdodododododo. I quickly grabbed
a rod rigged with ribbonfish and chunked it out..... let some line out and 5 secs later the clicker of my jmpe4 goes off. Dodo was about a good 4.5 ft long. Beautiful but uglly fish. Lite-liner hooked up another one 10 secs later and fought for 5min but it pulled off.
- Saw tons and tons and tons of bonita schools busting on top so decided to chase them. thought it was a school of Jacks. Hooked up about 5 bonitas and boy those things fight like crazy. Igotsnagged broke off a 35dollaor mini cotton candy japan lure in the process.
- on the way back we saw a 6ft bullshark right on the mouth of the jetty. I know i'm never going to wade in that water again after seeing that.
- bait fish, poggies were everywhere in the jetties. Lots of activity.

Got back to KQ place and lite-liner he filleted the dodo and cobia. Had some last night and it was sure yummy.

overall was a awesome trip. A bit choppy for a 18ft center-console but it worked. also, 1 out of the 4 of us got seasick and started to puke. I won't name names but thought it was funny. Too choppy to get good video clips and photos but i will do my best to put one together this week. Video looked more choppy than the blairwitchproject. bad......lol

i wish we could fit more than 4 but 4 is the max. I'm thinking next year or the year after we'll pitch in for something bigger and faster.

i'm just happy i got to test out my new JM PE4. thats a slick reel.
