I fished below the Denison Dam yesterday afternoon. The only generation was for 30 min from 4:30pm to 5pm with one generator. I arrived about 3:45pm and did see one fish caught from the OK side on a top water plug but the fish was small. I did managed to catch one small striper after the generation started. Caught on a swim bait from the Texas side. I did see a few small fish caught on the Texas side during generation but nothing big. All were around 1-2 lbs. I did not see any fish caught from the OK side during generation.

I have included a photo of the south wall of the flood gates on the OK side. If you look closely you will see a lot of white spots at the base of the south wall. Those are large stripers that are dead or dying. The photo was taken from the parking lot on the Texas side. The oxygen level is very low and the water temp in the lake is 84 and the survival rate of the big fish is poor. I did see some smaller stripers chasing shad during the generation so there are still some to be caught.

Went out to fish below Denison Dam for the first time this morning. Having never been there, this was more of an exploring trip but I took my 8 weight in case something wanted to bite. Fished down near the dam at first and didn't catch anything, but moved a bit further down river and ended up catching two baby striped bass (my first two stripers ever); the first on an olive woolly bugger and the second on an olive and white deceiver, which I tied on after foul hooking a shad and seeing what size and color shad the fish were chasing. Overall, it was a great morning and I can't wait to get back; although I may fish the Oklahoma side next time since that looked like the wading and fly casting might be a bit easier on that side. I took some video but it is not edited yet.

Here is the video... includes a quick recap of the local ponds fished this past week - Bethany Lakes, Sonic Pond, Eagles Nest aka "Pond Behind In-N-Out Burger". To skip to the Denison portion got to 1:03 of the video. Vlog #5 - "Local Ponds and Denison Dam"

I must have just missed you. I did see a few other people fly fishing and catching fish, which was nice. I fished from around 8 until about 10:30. When they are generating can you still wade? Or does it depend on how much water they are letting out at a time? I've got a lot to learn about fishing below the dam but I look forward to it. Anyway, here is my video.

You cannot wade when they are generating, way too much water moving. After they stop generating it takes 3-5 hours before the water goes down enough for wading.

Agree with Fish Chaser, would not wade while generating.

Cool video McKinneyLonghorn!

Thanks, that is pretty much what I figured. Since I wasn't really sure how high the water came up when they were generating, I wasn't sure if there was room to stand on the bank and fish when the water is moving. Going to be dove hunting this weekend and busy the next weekend as well, but hopefully can get back out there sometime in the next month.

Should have noted earlier. I threw a small chartreuse and white Clouser minnow for about an hour Saturday with no takers. Switched to the woolly bugger and hooked up pretty quick, and then snagged the shad and switched to the deceiver. Was really figuring the Clouser would work well, but I guess they weren't too eager to feed and something about it wasn't sitting right with them on that day.

Yes, the shad came from the river. Snagged it on a woolly bugger.
