I just recently moved to Rockwall and want to find a couple of good spots for bass, catch and release of course. I searched any recent posts and saw some talk about the pond in the park with the disc golf course. I've been there but never caught anything, seems pretty pressured. Any suggestions on certain spots to fish this pond? Or any other good ponds in the Rockwall area?

Any suggestions on certain spots to fish this pond? I've caught most of my bass along the dam (western bank) ripping traps and cranks thru the grass there. It has worked well even in the cold weather, though it seems to have slowed to a crawl the last few days. Casting out to the middle of the pond from the big rocks is also a good bet. Lots of grass. Also pulled a lot of smaller bass out of the area directly to the right as you cross over the bridge. As for other ponds in Rockwall, I've only tried Caruth and Phelps Lake for bass. But never had any luck there.

Thanks a lot. I'll have to head back out and see if I can find the grass. It looks like a good pond and from what I hear its been around for awhile. It will be good to know where some structure is.

I'm new to Rockwall also, near Caruth. I hope to have some luck there when it warms up. I've been out to that park (Meyer's?) and seen people catch bass, but that was on live bait and it was around Nov.
I've caught a lot of catfish in the small ponds on the other side.
I've been going to Ablon in Garland lately because the trout fishing has been hot since they stocked it last week. Caught two crappies yesterday also.

I live in Terrell where is that park in Garland. I went to mesquite city lake last weekend and the trout fishing was not good. Did not even get a hit, nor did anyone else I saw there fishing.

Ablon Park: From from I-30, exit onto Rosehill and go south. Turn east on Guthrie; park is located on the south side of the road.
After stocking last week, gold superdupers/pathermartins were killing. Now salmon eggs and powerbait are producing. I had more luck on a pink grub because I only cast and reel.

I know where Caruth is. I've been by there but the water level was really high and it was pretty cloudy water. I did find a pond hidden in the back near Caruth though that looks pretty promising. You have to walk to it or go off roading, I'll definitely try it out when it warms up a bit.

I was at Caruth about 3 weeks ago, and the water was so muddy I couldn't imagine pulling a bass out of there in those conditions. Visibility was probably 6 inches tops. I've never heard anyone give tips for Caruth other than...."it's got fish in it!"

Have you seen the pond to the east of Caruth? If oyu follow the sidewalk all the way around you get away from the house and the sidewalk leads right too it. It looks like it used to be private and may eventually have homes around it one day. This pond looks great, just haven't fished it.
