Water Temp : 46-47
Clarity : Stained
Wind : South at 5-15 mph
It seems the warmer weather has helped the bite pick up, but has not really moved alot of the fish. Total of 7 fish caught, biggest pushing 5 pds, with all but one in 19-20 ft of water.
This warming trend will continue to help the bite pick up and will eventually push some fish into the warmer shallows as long as the current weather pattern holds true.
Brushpiles on mainlake points near creek channels that have good numbers of baitfish in nearby deeper water are holding alot of fish right now. The bite is slow, and slow moving tactics are working.
Drop shots with a 2-3 ft "weight to lure length" rigged with junebug finesse worms on 1/0 straight shank hooks attached to 1/2 oz weight. Line is not a huge factor right now with the water clarity. 15lb mono works well when the bigger fish bite.
Moving around in these areas will increase your chances of success. Fish the rig slow, but do not sit on one pile to long. If you are not getting bit in 10-15 drops or say its been 30 mins since your last fish, it is probably time to move to your next pile.
The grass is holding some fish, the outer edge is tapering off at 10-14ft in most places. Carolina Rigs with about a "arms length" leader, 1/2 oz weight and 3/0 "riggin" hook topped with a chartruse ring fry. Mouths of creeks adjacent to main lake "grass" points are holding some fish.
Hope this helps, expect some changes if we continue to see the warmer weather. There very well could be a big grass bite towards the end of the week!
