Ah, somehow I missed this thread.


Most of those fish are large mullet, in case anyone wondered. At 1:20, and again at 1:57 those are probably large redfish in the light. Could be trout, but dang big trout if they are.

I LOVE fishing greenlights. Quite the challenge, headhunting the big trout and reds in amongst the swarm of dinks and rats. A 'yak allows you to slip right up on the fish (boats just scare them, as shown), and a size 8-10 shrimp or minnow perfectly imitates the forage they are concentrating on, at least around here.
Watching a 15" brown trout refuse a well-presented dry is frustrating... watching a 28" speck refuse a shrimp fly from an inch away is pure agony.

Or for whatever reason you get a big trout come up to your fly balance it on her nose for about 5 seconds to get a good luck at it and then turning it down.
