I hear a lot of guys saying that short rods are better than longer ones, or sometimes it goes the other way. Me in praticturaly, I like the longer ones because of the back bone and the rubberband effect.
Im just wandering what do you guys use? thanks in advance!! fish

I've tried both and like a short one better. How long you talking about? Too much rod length gets in the way for me, it's much easier to handle a short rod. And, the "rubber band effect" is the same with a short rod. JMO

Shorter rods for me- I like 5'6" to 6'0" rods for dock shooting, and low bridges as well as indoor barges. I feel more comfortable with them than the longer rods when around obstacles (maybe I'm just clumsier than most).

IMHO, Short for sure but brand makes a difference. I started out with a 4 1/2' MicroSpin and it was like a willow limb. No control. I have the Pro Angler 4 1/2' now and it has the most backbone of any light action rod under 6' I've ever used. Excellent control shootin' docks.

The 5.5' Wally Marshall is perfection! I tried one of the 4.5' and couldn't make it work for me.

Is there any one who likes using 7ft rods for shooting?

I use the 7 ft rods for multipurpose rods. I can shoot docks and fish brush piles with them. I feel like I get better distance and more speed on my shots with the 7 footers. You have to position the boat a few feet further away from your target but no big deal.
