When do the runs start on the Guadalupe, Colorado, Medina, etc?? How are the rivers looking this year??

I'm sure not an expert, but it is my understanding that this run up the creeks/rivers won't get started until February or so. I'm in west-central Texas, and that's generally when we start looking for them upstream from the main lakes. Sometimes successfully/sometimes not so successfully.

Depending on weather and rain amounts the whites will be up in the rivers from now until April, with the peak being in March usually. A long string of wet warm weather will get the whites heading up into the rivers earlier especially if the river is big like the trinity, colorado or the brazos...

sand bass start to do their thing when the weather lets you have 3 or more days of 60 + weather temp. I have been chashing river sand bass / striper for 20 + years now and it has never failed me. altho i have caught them as early as Feburary in some rivers. I have a 20 ft fishmaster bay boat and i haVE USED THE BOAT TO GET THEM AND I HAVE WALKED FOR MILES UP RIVER TO GET THEM. aLWASY LOOK FOR POOLS AND SWIFT RUNNING WATER IN THE RIVERS AND CREAKS.

March on the Elm Fork North Texas

Might be a tad early to be asking about the migration of sand bass for spawning.

I know for the Neches river here for lake Palestine. You can expect some small males moving up into the river around the next Full Moon (Dec. 31) From that point the Females will start heading up into the river between then and the next Full Moon (Jan. 30). Around the 1st week of February fishing should start to be good. Plus or minus a week. Hope this helps....Im only familiar with the Neches river above Palestine. Last year I was getting limits 3rd week of January. Its pretty much the same pattern year after year. Let me add that people on here will tell you things like March or April.....By then the banks and rivers are crowded with people and its a good chance you have already missed some good fishing without all the Nut heads getting on your nerves. Headsrtails is right on it. Don't wait till march or april. I caught a few on the north end of Conroe about 2 weeks ago. All males and I have heard of a few being caught in a couple of the creeks around here. This next full moon should get them going.

In South Texas you can catch them right now if you start trolling the headwaters just at the mouths of the rivers. They are staging and moving upstream in areas where there is plenty of current and baitfish. Find the baitfish and you will find the whites and stripers, and that's the key.

It's true they won't be into a full blown run until Feb. and March, but don't hesitate to give it a go.

We limited out last year on Dec. 16th trolling the river just up from 99 on Choke Canyon and loaded the boat with two limits, in about 45 minutes once we found them.

I've got into a mess of them a couple years ago in Mid to late January. If we get a few days in a row of sunny warm weather, and the water temps begin to rise, the fish will begin to move upstream.

My best day was on NY day a few years ago. Fished for 4 hours and rarely went more than 3 casts without a fish on. My 2nd best day was Xmas eve a few years ago with 30 in about an hour (no-I did not keep them all).

I start testing the creeks mid-january, but my best month is with out a doubt febuary, but the weather needs to cooperate consistently.
