i like the fact that maybe the walmart series might not be the best but the most easily returned/replaceable for anywhere in the country. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there is a walmart battery that has the necessary cranking amps for an Opti. I have a 06 200 Opti and I have an Everstart Maxx Maxx-65N from Wally World and it's 1000 CCA I googled this battery quick and while I can't find much technical info (because its just walmart selling), there is a ford bronco forum and another ramdom forum that talk about it and both say that it has 850 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and 1000 (Marine) Cranking Amps. If thats true then according to Mercury you don't have the battery for the job. Of course before my current battery I had a 24g Interstate that I remember only had like 700 or 800 CCA and my engine started every time with no hiccups. Can you check what it says exactly on the battery so people aren't mislead? Daren

And where do you get the best deal on Interstate Batteries...I gotta replace all of them in my boat this winter to get ready for spring.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I've had good luck with the Duralast from Autozone on my 225 Opti. Seems like it was about $90 and it's two years old and doing good. It has the 1000 CCA needed.

It's kind of missleading. The government or a lawyer must have made the label for it. The amperage is very big and the CA and CCA and temp rating is very small. This is what it looks like. My tie down strap covers the CA@32'F And what I saw was 1000 CCA. Sorry, guess I'm going to have to get a new battery. Thanks, Daren CA@32'F 1000 CCA 850 @0'F

I fish a lot of days when the temp is in the low to mid 20s at the beginning. I have a 225 Opti and have been using an 800 CCA with 1000 MCA for the last 3 years. It came from O'Reilly Auto Parts and has kept the electronics going and started the engine well every time I have taken it out.

i would say go with the trojan marine 1000cca battery, but i don't think they are making it anymore.
i carry the 1000cca continental marine battery. no problems with them at all.
i did have an Optima blue top in my last bullet. never had a problem with it. it had a 250 XS mota.
