I've been wanting to try adding spinners to flies for a while, and Glazener's Spinsters finally pushed me over the edge. This one is intended to entice Rainbow stockers in park lakes. Not that I know a lot about how to catch those things, but they do seem to like spinners.....

Size 10 hook. Whaddya think? freak

Looks nice. Hopefully it will soon be fish-spit approved.

I think I might start using that in conversation now, with your permission of course. Hardly a better way of describing a successful fly.

They work great for trout, but trout will eat anything catfish will eat.

Have fun with this stuff.

That thing would catch anything. Mostly because that blade will move some water very similar to a spoon, dangerous fly for sure.

Very nice. What power source do you use to drive the prop?

You have to hand crank until the prop picks up enough speed to help you cast 140 ft...

So there's really no difference between this and a Pistol Pete (other than trademark issues), right?

True that - one time I was fishing a likely looking catfish spot at a lake new to me and caught an 18" rainbow on chicken liver. Apparently I had hit a cold spot, spring or something, because it was August and that trout shoulda been long ded.

It appears to me as if there is much better craftsmanship exhibited in Pogo's version - that'd be the main difference I see overall smile

Well looking at the flies on their webpage, I can tie a cleaner, better looking version of it than the Pistol Pete people. They probably all just hung their heads in shame and didn't even know why. Maybe they need to upgrade to the quarter per day sweatshop instead of the nickle per day sweatshop.

I've lashed a few of these together over the last few months, including some with rubber legs instead of hackle. It's a solid, effective pattern.

+1, LOL!!

I'd never heard of a Pistol Pete 'til now, and have never, ever seen a spinner added to a fly until I saw Mr. G's Spinsters on this forum a week ago. Guess I live a pretty protected life and never even knew it....?

Exposure to those associated with this forum will be guaranteed to fix that whole "protected life" thing. You will miss being protected.

Also, just because someone else already tied it, doesn't mean that your version won't work just as well, or, in this case, better. I've enjoyed all the tying work that you've posted, so keep it up, please.
