Went to their website, looked like a nice place. Good luck, hope ya'll catch a bunch. I'd like to go after some of those 2 lb. bluegills. Keep us posted on your good catches. By the way, what's a tiger bass? Actually it is a proprietary name for a fish created by American Sportfish ( http://www.americansportfish.com/). As stated, it is a cross between a northern (native) bass and pure strain Florida bass. Many other folks have developed a similar fish and call it other names such as Tigre. Dunn's sells the same fish and calls it F1 Bass as does Tyler Fish Farms. I've stocked this fish and it is really a great fish for ponds. Doesn't get hook shy nearly as bad as the pure Floridas and yet grows almost as fast. Here is a one year old, 15 inch, 2.5 pound Tiger bass that are numerous in one pond and it came from an American Sportfish fingerling.

Yeah I've heard of F1's but never heard 'em called Tiger Bass. Guess I've been out of the loop. Would love to have some of those in my ponds someday.

Regarding the American Fish & Game Club you are reading that correctly. You pay annual dues, then pay when you fish - Most lakes are $25.00 per person for 1/2 day,$45.00 for a full day. Some sites only let you fish a full day. A few of the lakes are more expensive. The three years I belonged were great! Perfect lakes for a bassbuster or jon boat. My biggest fish was over 9 lbs. Most lakes are great. Most times your the only person/group on the water. For me it was no different then paying for a round of golf. And I fish much better then i golf. I highly recommend.

A couple of small lakes in the Terrell area will open for fee fishing around the first of the year. A 10 acre pond and a 7 acre pond.

Paying a low annual fee plus a low day rate equates to a very affordable way to access more than 50 lakes. For some fisherman the $1000 to $25,000 (Ferndale) upfront fee is too much, so paying $50 to $150 at a time is a more affordable option. I have been a member for 8 years and there is not a better fishing value on the market.

I was wondering if anyone is a member of the www.americanfishandgameclub.com that JohnH posted?? I went to the website..couldn't believe that you had to pay yearly membership & then $ 45.oo/daily per person to fish there. I'm reading that right?? This started out as a hunting club (late 90's, early 00's), North Texas Conservating and Hunting Club I believe. Mostly dove, quail, and duck. Deer was added later. I was a member during that time and would often fish these tanks inbetween morning and evening dove or duck hunts. Always caught big bass since these are private ranches with little fishing pressure. Glad to see now they have expanded and added fishing. Would be great for tube or kayak fishing, but agree there are too many fisheries to be explored for free in North Texas.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

YakBonz,
I wanted to clarify your response. The American Fish and Game Club, started out as a Fishing club in 1996. In early 2006 The American Fish and Game Club bought Texas Conversation Hunting Club (TCHC); adding hunting to their business model. Last month The American Fish and Game Club sold the fishing side of the business and now is strictly a hunting club. The new name of the fishing club is Private Water Fishing. Private Water Fishing has over 50 private lakes to fish and will be adding approx 5 new lakes a year.

I'm about to join the American Fishing Club, looks nice. I don't have a big boat(yet) or have many places to go fishing so sounds good to me.
