Q: What do you call an aluminum canoe that's been stored upside down out in the sun, for oh, like 23 years
A: My canoe B: My Grumann C: A noisy old canoe you can borrow
Q: What do you call a plastic kayak that's been stored upside down out in the sun, for oh, like 5 years ?
A: Faded and cracked B: My last kayak C: For sale CHEAP
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Yeah but try making an aluminum yak....
I store mine (plastic) in the garage and I have had it at least 3 years already and still love it.

Put some 303 on that plastic and it'll hold up a bit longer.

You can use anything that has a good UV inhibitor and will stay on the plastic.
Academy now carries a product specifically made for plastic kayaks.

What is 303? I have never heard of it. Its a UV protectant. As far as Armor All vs. 303, I guess its personal preference, but for my money 303 is the way to go. I don't like Armor All's greasiness and I think 303 lasts longer once applied. I've been using 303 on all my rotomolded whitewater boats as well as a couple Royalex canoes for the last 15 years and every one of them looks as good as the day I bought them. No fading or cracking whatsoever. I use it on my truck's interior also, and in that application I find it to be FAR superior due to the shiny appearance of Armor All - which I can't stand all over my dash.

"crack in my seat".... <--- Doesn't everybody? LOL! 303 is UV protective formula that is quite popular. https://www.austinkayak.com/products/78/303-Aerospace-Kayak-Protectant.htmlAs for your crack, take your yak to our Austin location for repairs. We do plastic welding and will fix any problems. Austin Canoe and Kayak 9705 Burnet Rd #102 Austin, TX 78758 (512) 719-4386 Dave Austin Canoe and Kayak
