I haven't heard of any plans for Braunig. If it remains more or less like it is, you & they rest of S.A. will be there..in line.

Man I just heard the oddest thing they are going to make Calaveras into and RV park and it is members only they are not going to allow any guided fishing unless they pay the company huge dollar amounts for there guide tag. Also one pole per person no beer anywhere on the lake and will be fined if you have it. Trolling will only be allowed 2 days a week..





Now that everyone is stirred up I made up all above!!!!!!!!!!

was out at calaveras on thrusday asked the gal at the gate and she said she had no information just her last day was the 30th...i live on the ne side of san antonio anyway i will just go to canyon if they mess it up .... i have fished calaveras since i was a boy i hope they dont mess it up we need more good fishin spots not less

I was at calaveras yesterday (Sunday) boy was it foggy. The lady on the gate could not give me any information on what is going to happen. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the new group does. It will be a shame if they make it private and jack up the prices. I guess we will find out soon.

I was at calaveras this morning (Monday) & it was so foggy that we had to navigate the lake with a compass. Fishing was slow, but the lake was absolutely beautiful after the fog lifted..calm..warm. Had a great time. As I looked around, there were a lot of families there fishing from the bank..kids running around, some catching bait, just having fun. I thought to myself, bet they have no idea that this may all end in just a few days.

I'd bet on it becoming PRIVATE, MEMBERS ONLY. Its what Thousand Trails does. Why would they change???

because at that lake they will have no clientel HAHA...seriously...who would pay 1k a year to fish calaveras? or ski or tube or jetski, hell anything! just sounds really crazy to me, but im a nay sayer so ill stick by that until i see them raking in the customers.

still got my fingers crossed it don't go private...hopefully goin saturday not one of my last visits!!!!

my annual pass doesn't expire until July..wonder if I'm going to be treated like an illegitimate child at a family reunion.

This thought came to mind..CPS is a publicly owned utility. In other words, owned by the public. Calaveras & Braunig are then in reality, owned by the public. I wonder if CPS can legally lease the recreation facilities to a privately owned company & deny the public access to the lakes to which they own. Something to think about..

if you really want to know whats going on , go to braunig , go to the right like your going to dead tree point you'll see a playground and behind the restrooms you'll see an rv hooked up to the restrooms. there's a car there with the thousand trailer logo on the door........................

So if someone were to kidnap said individual, and beat the info....err no, no, no, that ain't right. How bouts we get them all liquored up and then get them to spill the beans!

Went to Calaveras today with my son. We saw three people from the new company walking around with clipboards, taking notes, and talking about repairs (this was down by the restrooms near the dam). I asked them what the plans were for the park and they said the company is "tight lipped about it" and they were just sent to look things over. I can't believe they wouldn't know this close to the takeover date.

The sad thing is, we caught nothing before we had to leave. Bad possible last day at the lake.

oh they know. when they were taking notes, you should have started cussing take your shirt off start a ruckus so they get an idea of how the lake really is!

So if they go private will the Dept of Wildlife continue to stock the lake? I would hope not!

If anyone is going to the lake on Tuesday they need to post so we can all find sout what changes are made. I can't go this week but am planning on going next week if it is still open to the public.
I agree if they make it private then we need to make sure were not paying to stock it.

If it became private and the TPWD continued to stock...I would hope the fishing community would raise h*ll until the stocking stopped.

I have the feeling that the ramps will remain open to the public, but with an increase launch fee. The rest of the park would be for TT camping facilities. All would be under the TT contract. This is strictly my guess, but this would make a lot of dollar sense. Time will tell...
