Just returned from El Salto Lodge and 8 days of fishing. Total catch was 706 with 28 over 5 pounds, 8 over 8 pounds, and 2 kicker fish at 10 pounds 3 ounces each. Best baits were WMR flukes on carolina rig during the day and t-rig early/late. Also did well on t-rig paca craw. Caught 38 one morning on yellow magic but generally top -water bite was not real good. Weather was terrific...55-80. Water temp was 78-81.

Was there a crankbait bite? Always seems to be a "goto" bait for the mexican lakes.

Already booked again for Jan 16-21. Hope to catch a new PB.
Just returned from 3 days at Falcon with Charlie Harelson. Great guide. Caught 15 to 25 a day with several in the 6-8 pound class. Probably the best lake in the states right now.

This may not be important but did you see the front page article last Sunday(11-22-09)about the 9 Texas dove hunters who were attacked, beat up and robbed in Mexico? They swooped in on them in pickup trucks and automatic weapons. They roughed up the hunters and guides pretty badly and took guns, ammo, money, watches, I.D. and vehicles. I'm just sayin...

Yessir, I sure did. But I watched the local news and the same thing happened right here 3 times just yesterday...although there weren't as many thugs committing the crime. You take your chances no matter where you are. But common sense must prevail. We fly into Mazatlan and are driven up a 4 lane highway, right by a huge federal police station during the 90 minute ride to the lodge. That all seems safe enough. Siguis, who runs the lodge employs a large number of the people in the area and they all know if anything happens to the "gringos", their jobs (spelled $$$$) are lost forever. Even though I think some of the other lakes are more of a risk, I still think El Salto is no greater risk than staying at home. I do appreciate your info and concern though. thanks
