the way i see it, is that you are paying out the butt for one, and you really only have use for it two or three months out of the year. But then again i have heard of guys that have won there money back using them in tourneys

My new boat has one, here's my take. Spring is the absolute best big fish time of the year, and sight fishing is one of the best methods of catching big fish in the spring. The money you'll spend on it is nothing to the money you can win with it.

I have had one for a year. In my opinion they are definately worth they money. They are not just for spring time. If your in shallow water you will find ways to use it. Boat positioning and being able to stay of the trolling motor will get you a couple more bites. Will also help from getting scratch's on your boat when your docking or beaching. Get the 8' model. The 6' is just to short for bass fishing. Highly recommend calling Tommy at Rockwall Marine 972-771-4442. They will make sure you get exactly what you need and do a first class job on installing.

i fished as a co-angler this year and i fished in boats that had them. they are very nice. i fished with arnie lane in rayburn and the first day the wind was 20+ and we were fishin in 12 foot of water and he put down the power poles and was draggin the grass. they definetly came in handy

I have seen most mounted with a bracket between the jack plate and engine. My question is how do you mount one if you have no jack plate and your motor is mounted directly to the hull?

In looking at my 521 I just don't see how there would be room for it to work and I'm obviously not intersted in drilling holes in the hull like they use to be mounted.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I don't have a jack plate either, and my motor is mounted directly to the hull. The installer simply has to remove your outboard, place the bracket for the powerpole underneath and reattach your outboard over the bracket, using the same boltholes. It's really a pretty simple operation. The only thing the installer struggled with on mine was running the switch all the way to the bow of my boat, but they got it there. I absolutely love the thing, it really makes a huge difference since I like to work one spot thoroughly but hate throwing out the anchor all the time. Wouldn't have a boat without one either.

Power Pole makes several different brackets... They work on all boats with or without a jack plate.

I had one on my last boat - Skeeter ZX22V Bay. After using it for flats fishing - I couldn't own a boat with out one again.

I have just ordered my new boat & 8ft XL Pole with remotes - They are as important as a bow mount electric in my experience

Just buy one - Scotto
