I don't have a jack plate either, and my motor is mounted directly to the hull. The installer simply has to remove your outboard, place the bracket for the powerpole underneath and reattach your outboard over the bracket, using the same boltholes. It's really a pretty simple operation. The only thing the installer struggled with on mine was running the switch all the way to the bow of my boat, but they got it there. I absolutely love the thing, it really makes a huge difference since I like to work one spot thoroughly but hate throwing out the anchor all the time. Wouldn't have a boat without one either.
