We bank fished about a 1/3 of it. I have never seen a boat on there. It says no swimming or fishing so I assume no boating either? Just bank fished it across from the Marriot. Seemed to get the most bites over there. Thats all grass too.

We have been fishing it on Sunday. I guess we better stop for a few weeks. We have been out there every Sunday for the past three weeks. Thanks for the tip though.

I believe the city of Irving sponsored that. Was it in July/August? i used to office in that large building across from the Marriott and saw the signs but also saw a small tourney on there one day that had at least 15 boats. It shocked me because I knew you weren't supposed to fish there. The good news is its not posted as no trespassing so all they can do is run you off. i may have to go try it one day now.

well, if your having a bad fishing month, year or whatever. That lake will turn you back on. I use a zoom lizzard each time and I get 2-10 fish each time I go. All usually a lb or more. Great place to get your confidence back.

I fished in that tourny. It was a benefit tourny for Irving Cares. Terry Peacock won with 20lbs. I took third with 17 something. There was a 5+ pound sand bass weighed in for the fish other than bass winner. It was a freak!

The golf course ponds hold some really nice fish too...... Fished all that when I was younger and lived up there, try it at night in the summer. Less traffic and observers, also allows you to be able to move around and fish the walls without bothering anyone.

I can't believe you guys would fish a lake that is positively off-limits. The tournament with boats on the lake was a special event with very special permission. Maybe you would stretch the rules in a tournament too. I live 5 minutes away and have never wet a hook there, but would sure like to.

DECURD oversee's the lake. It's a flood control from what I understand. I work at a building on the lake and remember that tournament that the City of Irving put on for a charity if I remember correctly. DECURD also let B.O.M.A. have their tournament there two years in a row. There are some hogs in that lake, big catfish too. They are starting to build out the area with the new convention center and lake side stores in the near future. The hydrilla looks mighty good. Stay away from the condo's and office building and you might be safe.....for a few hours. Las Colinas Security more so than IPD. I'm jealous.

Careful on Lake Carolyn. DCURD, LCA patrol, and Irving popo will ticket you. I live in LC and fish a different lake in my neighborhood. Got into a dispute with DCURD over their bylaws...and I pay some mean taxes over here. They should at least let area residents fish it. I undersaynd their position, just don't agree with it (from taxpayer, HOA dues payer perspective).

I think that its ok to fish there as long as I dont hit the private condo areas. I don't see the big deal about fishing it. I know the los colinas people kinda think that the city is all thiers. Kinda high falootin and all that. Most people out there are nice though, they always ask if I have caught anything. We had the fire department come up on a boat once and ask us how we were doing. Never ran into the law out there though. I think its more of a I make more money than you and this is my lake thing out there. Thats just the feeling I get some times from a few of the people I see out there frequently. I'll go again though. When my home lake isn't producing. Its a good place to get your confidence back up and land some good looking fish.
As for stretching rules in a tourny Rickety Sprit, that really has nothing to do with it. Some people just dont agree with ridiculous laws. When your competing its a totally different senario. I say fish it!!!!

From Ray Sasser's column in the Dallas Morning News dated 3/22/08: "If you've dreamed of fishing in a private lake, you'll have your chance April 5 at the Second Annual Fishing in the City Event benefiting Irving Cares. The event is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Carolyn (O'Connor Road at Las Colinas Boulevard in Irving). Lake Carolyn is a private, stocked lake and no public fishing is allowed [emphasis added], except during this event. There's a live auction in which anglers can bid on a chance to share a boat with bass pros such as Irving's Matt Hupp. Eight pros have committed to guide anglers during the fundraiser. For a $10 donation (children under 12 fish free), anglers can also fish from the bank. Event coordinator Sheila Hupp said there will be vendors and exhibitors. Details are at www.IrvingCares.org or call 972-721-9181, extension 203."

The problem with some (not all) fishing around those lakes is that people have left hooks and trash. Folks walk their dogs and it would suck if someone's dog got a hook. I don't see a problem with the fishing either, so long as people clean up after themselves and don't set up camp.
As usual, a few spoil it for the majority. By the way, if you come up this way to fish, send me a pm. I'd like to join you. Will even show you a couple of my honey holes.
BTW- not all of us Las Colinians are stuck up and think we have our town. Note: my location in my sig says Irving. I ain't ashamed of Irving and I ain't rich. I was born and raised here, and happen to like a nice home in a nice neighborhood in this part of town. Probably no different than you.

Las Colinas is not a city, it is still Irving, just a section of it. Dang stuck up people think its a beverly hills or something. Las Colinas and University Hills had their heydays back in the 80's, It no longer what it used to be. Now of days it just an older part of Irving built on bad ground with lots of Foundation Problems.
