Where do the turtles go in cold weather? Anybody know? I was interested in this and looked up some stuff about them a few weeks back. It seems that most of them enter a quasi-hibernation mode when the water temps get to a certain coldness and they basically dig themselves down into the bottom of the pond and just sit there motionless. Since their body temp drops they need very little oxygen and absorb the little they need through the water. They also can't digest much food at that temp. http://www.turtlepuddle.org/kidspage/hibernation.html I wish I had noted exactly at which point last winter/spring that the turtles appeared. I know the very first time I fished at Ghostie, which was Feb. 25, there was not a turtle in sight. I returned after 3 or 4 weeks and began having trouble with them then.

Corner of Watts and crenshaw in LA. That is where Ghostie is. I'm sorry. My memory is not all that good. Is Watts and Crenshaw in LA where Rodney King got whupped up on or a battle ground spot for the Crips and the Bloods?

Its amazing just where you find mentions of the TFF. My question about ghosti lake turned up #3 on a google search. Now bigbart is famous for his answer. Good going, bart, your kid will be proud.

And Granpa75762 how dare you bring my child into your ignorant argument over a fishing spot that I personally will never disclose. Those fish are too great to be turned into cut bait. And BTW if you live in Marshall why would you care? It is in west texas, just west of weatherford. A lil town called _________. Right off the river. Have a wonderful day.

easy guys...grandpa, ghostie is like a not so secret spot anymore but for most of us is a very memorable venue. I am not at liberty to give away its location, but im sure with a little searching you can dig it up somewhere in recent posts.

Ok, I understand. big bart is was a legitimate question undeserving of a smart a$$ answer and was returned in kind. I just asked out of curiosity. Not to be smart. You could have just said it was a secret spot or even said it was a private lake. I would not have know the difference. A lot of times lakes are referred to by nick names or initials and not every one knows what you are talking about. So I ask.
It is getting to the point that I am afraid to ask any questions cause some people just like to pop off. Anyone that has been posting on the TFF for any length time ought to know when a question is a legitamate and when it is a joke question.

But.............I was upset that you brought my child in to your smartalek responce. I was married for the first time in 99 at the park next to Ghostie, I have a long long history with that pond. I feel it owes me for that old mistake made there and my lil one loves the park. My history with ghostie goes back wayyyy before the fishing forum. It is also the pond that when my old koi pond went belly up that I put 100 Israeli Koi in there in 98. So yes it is kinda special to me as are the fish. I do not want them to become catfish cutbait.

Ok, I understand. Anyone that has been posting on the TFF for any length time ought to know when a question is a legitamate and when it is a joke question. grandpa, I respectfully disagree with this statement. Communication is 80% or more nonverbal when we are face to face, so verbal communication (with no voice inflection, visual cues, etc) is rife for misunderstanding. When just using text we need to use more words and perhaps different words to make sure that our meaning and nuance is clear. It is rather unfair to others to just assume that they should understand our meaning. IMHO.

hey Zach, there are a bunch of places that are marked on the map you made, but they dont seem to have the names that they are referred to as on the forum here. Just something I noticed and could be confusing
