Hi everyone. I want to thank everyone for helping me make TX 3 Bass what it is today. I see more new faces every month coming out to our tournaments and that means a lot to me.. I want to thank the sponsors for the great prizes they have given us to give to you and please help them out in return by buying from them. I am writing this to see if there is anything TX 3 Bass can do to improve on or make it even more fun.. Things like a 2 day tournament with a BBQ on the first day and cash and a plaque to the winner/s. Maybe take TX 3 Bass on the road and go to other lakes. I also purchased the Tournament Pro Software and maybe get to use it for future tournaments.... Someone said maybe have a fish off - have a special tournament with just all the monthly winners. All comments will be given some thought. I do like to keep things pretty simple though.. I will still continue to try and get us more Sponsors.. I do have a few ideas but I will keep those under wraps until the time is right for them to be released..Someone mentioned to me about a night tournament. I would be up for that in the summer time...

Thank you,
Joe Bake

I like the 2 day event. The BBQ rocked last time.

Not sure about a plaque, I like Cash.

Be Cool to hit like a Texoma or Roberts or Lewisville lake.

Kinda like it being home based out of Grapevine, easy for most angler to get to

Be careful when you bring about change Joe. You may find that the greener grass is not better only different. Funny thing about change is that people don't always like where it takes them. I like to frequently say "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it."

With that said you can always look to trick up what you have.

Here is a different payout idea:
The Winning team will receive $20.00 for each pound of their winning weight. Each place thereafter will receive $10.00 per pound until the $$$ is gone…
Big Fish will pay $20.00 for each pound of its winning weight.
Make the numbers fit your payout schedule.

Have a sponsor tournament:
Contestants can only use brand X baits.

Side pots - Smallie gets a prize, biggest sand bass, catfish caught on a lure etc.

Exact weight payoffs. A 5.00 lb. bass gets a payout.

8lb. pot. Pot pays off when an angler catches a 8 lb. or bigger fish.

My prayers continue for your wife and her ongoing situations.

If you decide to extend these to area lakes, would like to see a couple at Joe Pool.

Rob thanks for the input. I agree that the grass isnt always greener on the other side... I am just seeing what options or ideas are out there...

Joe,

I think you have a good thing going, dont fix it if it is not broken. I enjoy fishing your tournies and i like the conveinence of it being on the vine and low entry fee for some fun on the water and meeting new people.

I only wish i could make more of them, sometimes the dates interact with others, club tournies etc.. i know there is no real cure for that.
Your tournie was one of the first i ever fished in on a regular basis, i really like the way it allows those of us to just show up and fish and not worry about what type of boat or equipment we have, no pressure on the participants, just real honest fun and good people.
You have something really good going here, i wouldnt change a thing!

edit: i seen your looking for ideas and thoughts, figured i would throw one idea, (still wouldnt change anything) Tx 3 Bass-every third weekend of the month..get it? 3-third....

Joe, looking fwd to 3bass tourneys in 2010. I like the simplicity of these tourneys and enjoy fishing them.

One thing I really like is your current payout/prize structure.

A fish off at end of year would be fun, but keep in mind you would have a max of 10-12 boats. With the possibility of duplicate winners, scheduling conflicts, etc a fish off might only have 7-8 boats, which probably isn't what you are looking for.

I think the BBQ was a success and another one in Sept/Oct would be well attended.

Thanks for all the compliments. I will still keep it simple as possible. I am thinking I will keep the monthly Tournament at Grapevine and add a Joe Pool tournament in between from time to time and see how it goes from there. I have really enjoyed making new friends and seeing old ones.. I dont know about the schedule yet but I think I can work it to be every 3rd Sunday of the month.I have a few ideas that wont change the format but make the day a little more fun. But I will keep hat quiet until the time is right... Please continue to post as I would like to hear more thoughts on this...

Thank you,
Joe Bake

I agree with about 99% of the above comments that pretain to keeping the tour. simple/cheap. I have fished many local and "big time" tournaments in my time and I think, maybe due to my age, there is a real need for a tour. of this type just for those who want it " low-keyed". Keep it up Joe thumb

I might include top 3 per tourney to do an end of year tourney. That way there would be a decent size tourney at the finale. I like the way it works now, keep up the good work/structure.
By the way, thanks for all you do!

Maybe give $1,000 to the team that weighed the heaviest sack in 2009......or a new boat, etc.??? j/k! bolt

I don't know if I would change anything. You are doing a great job and by the looks of your entries, you are also doing something right. You have great turnouts and I hope to fish a lot more of them in the 2010 season.

Okie

They did this at the Joe Pool working man's tourneys and it made for a little bigger field. It was also nice knowing that as long you finished 3rd in at least one T you were in the classic. They also held back $5 bucks per entry fee per tournament (I think) and put it toward the classic pot. We had a pretty nice pot by classic time!
