My buddies and I are looking into a Mexico trip in late January. I would appreciate any advice on the absolute best lake to fish along with the most deluxe accomodations set up.

Hands Down Sugar Lake and stay at the El Mirador for 70 bucks a night, This includes three meals a day and all the beer you can drink. Not only that but you can take your own boat and truck. They are on the water and have boat ramp.

Just returned from Baccarac. The lodge is first class. Fishing this year has been high for numbers and a little lower on size. We could have caught 100 fish all 4 days if we wanted. There were times when you couldn't cast without catching a 2 pounder that pulled like a north Texas 5 pounder.

Guides seemed to think the bigs were still out deep. We had 3 fish over 9 for our group.

Same question, what are you looking for in the trip? Numbers, size, creature comforts, travel issues? Shoot me a PM if you wish and I will tell you what is current.

Sugar is alot closer, cheaper and easy to get to, you will probably not catch 100 but 30 to 50 and the size if bigger, look at the video on falconlakeguide.com of sugar video, and that was just an average day.

Did any of you guys see the big story on the front page of the Houston Chronicle today about the 9 American dove hunters in Mexico who were attacked by a band of bandits? They were hunting in a field and the bandits came racing in on them with trucks and automatic weapons. They rounded them up and beat them up. They took guns, watches, money, I.D. and vehicles of the guides.

I wouldn't go down there on a bet, even though many fishermen and hunters have been without incident, I don't want to be the exception.
