i had a 24 volt motor guide and i found a deal on a 36 volt motor guide. Will i just have to add another battery and another jumper cable, or will it run on 24 volts? its only a 18.5 skeeter so the boat is not very big.

+1 too low a voltage/amperage will cause the motor to overheat and burn up.
