simple
old fashoned oats bottom shelf chili powder (50 cents at walmart) can of sweet corn a bit of salt and a small ammount of water to get it to hold together
cheap and it has worked great for myself and a few others.
(i used grits with it for a while but decided it was not really needed)

the instant is precooked and is your binder, the quick is raw and is the breaker

gotcha, I was using old fashioned oats as my binder and quick grits as my breaker, with a little season salt for flavor

Quick Oats is a better binder than Old Fashioned, but they will both bind.
I try different methods all the time, still trying to get a couple that I feel I can count on. One I like it just a 3lb container of Old Fashion oats and a can or two of creamed corn. You can use a packet of jello or koolaid for flavor, if you want one, or use a tablespoon or two of a liquid flavor. Also, add a couple of tablespoons of salt.

As far as draining the cream corn????? not sure if that is even possible

good luck, keep in mind that once the water temps get into the 50's grits won't be very effective and you should switch to a bread based method mix

Right on. Sorry, misread the question as 'sweet corn' rather than 'creamed corn'. I still would boil 15 minutes, but Scotts method works great too.
