I've used P-Line Floroclear for 2 years and loved it...Got stupid, read the hype and figured if KVD won 2 AOY titles back to back I'll use it....DUMB!!!
Now, I spooled it right, used KVD line treatment and did all that I was supposed to do correctly...
Fishing a club tourney on Texoma, all pumped up. First cast with my SK Red Eye Shad, it goes about 300 yards...The line broke right at the reel...Ok, maybe I did something wrong. 30 minutes later, set the hook on a TRig Senko, decent fish that swirled on it, POP!!! Again, at the end of the rod. Now I'm pissed. Pick up the Crankin Stick (different than the Red Eye Shad Rod), put on a crank, and it flies farther than the first lure I launched into outer space. Needless to say, my garage has the entire florr littered with fishing line...Academy, here I come for my P-Line Floroclear.

Man something was wrong with that spool or something. I've used it on several rods over the last year or more and not had any issue like that. Now it isn't super abrasion reistant, but I haven't had it break like that. Coach

I think Al-queda snuck in the night and did something...It was "a" spool...One was 14lbs and the other 2 were 17....20 lbs was ok, but the 3 issues are making me stop

I have never had any problems with the 20 but I have been disappointed with the 17. The abrasion resistance with the 17 is very poor. However the 20 rocks due to the cost!!!!! There was a post on here awhile back that said to NOT use any line conditioner on Fluorocarbon. Might be more too it than we first thought. Remember the old saying "If it ain't broke, then DON'T fix it!!!" or even better "Think with yer dipstick, Jimmy!!!!" Some of the info you get here is VERY suspect. Remember not all these guys know what they are doing. (Me included!!!)

I love the watch the Elite guys make excuses every time they break off. It always "there must have been a nick in the line" instead of "I am done with this POS fluoro [censored]!"

McCoy's Extreme Green... just be done with all of it and buy you a spool. You will be impressed. Im not on any pro staff etc..just try it if you see it, its allready lubed up and ready to go right off the spool, and has virtually no memory.

I use XPS 17 and 20 and have no problems. I think the line is made by a company called TORAY (dont hold me to it) (that was my research before). Sorry to hear you have had issues. I have started using good old Trusty Trilene green on some of my rods....

I switched to that XPS line in March and have broke off more fish since then than I have in 5 yrs...I started bass fishing 6 yrs ago and always used P-line Flouroclear 17 and 20 and only broke off with new line about 2 maybe 3 times in 6 yrs...I broke off during practice with old line that was abused a few times but I knew the line was nicked and not retied after big fish and all that....
I can think of 3 break off that happened at Falcon in April and in the last 3 weeks I have broke off about 10 times...Most just after the hook set but some about half way in and gone...I was useing 17lb XPS Fluro and a few more on 10Lb XPS Fluro ona shakey head...Brand new line too tied the right knots and have checked everything...That line cost me in the last 3 tournaments over $1800 I am done with that cr@p!!!!! back to P-line! XPS Line sucks!!!!!!!!

I think the whole flourocarbon promotion is strickly to increase profit dollars for the seller. I've used it, had it break in weird spots. Now, I'm done with it and I've gone back to Big Game exclusively. I've always been able to feel when a fish takes the bait and I don't buy the advantage of less visibility. Can you imagine the total loss of revenue if all of us used Big Game instead of flourocarbon?

P-Line is the worst line I've ever used. I guess if it works for you then fish it.

I think a closer look, i have been fishing it on Palestine around docks lately, have 18lbs yesterday on 8lb test, had a 7 lber around pipes, poles and all kinds of metal. I have had problems with it in the past, but the last several years none at all, when you can land a 7 lber that stripped drag some 20 ft through metal and still land it on 8 lb that says something. Some people don't like it, myself I use it most of the time. Go with what you have confidence in for sure!

Best not to change what you are doing right before a tournament.

Def a bad bad spool... I use it and LOVE it... You have to have scissors or clippers to cut the knots and tag ends... tried to bite it one day... no go...
+1 on don't change before a tourney... I had a similar expierince with different line
