Looking for a Merc Master Mechanic in the Sherveport, LA area. Do you know of one that you would take your boat to? Having major coil problems on my '08 250 Pro XS. Four burned so far with at least a 5th on the way. Based on the posts I've seen it's beyond a coil problem. This is the same boat as in stump004's posts.
No sir I do not know of any Master's out your way and as for replaceing a harness as mentioned in anothet post the only time I have had to replace the harnees and this harness being the ignition harness is when one of the coils shorted out and melted the connector that plugged in to that particular coil. As for the coils that is what I have been told it was a design problem inside the coil itself and the engineers were working on the problem. I haven't been to Opti class yet this year going in a couple of weeks will call my source at Mercury and see if they have got any awnsers....OPTI

Thanks, I have no problem bringing the boat to you if you think that is what I should do. I have talked to Mercury myself, I was told that the initial replacement should fix it. Obviously that is not the case. It has been either #3 or #4 each time we have had the problem.
Talked to my source at Mercury and he told me that the new coils have be released so when your tech orders the old coil it will superseed to the new coil. From what I gathered they just released them this week....OPTI
