That is what i was going to comment. There are really not that many different batteries. Just different brands.

Go to Wal-Mart and get your batteries for boat and car for one reason only: return policy!! Not many other places will take a battery back at midnight and exchange for a new one (and if you have receipt they'll give you cash). If your on a trip there's no telling how close you will be to a Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Sears, Autozone, etc . . . . but your always close to a Wal-Mart, and they are probably open. Just stick boat battery receipts in boat dry storage, and car battery receipts in glove box. You'll always have them with you.

It depends on what you do. I use the Optima AGM batteries, but in the past I have used the Everstart MAXX from Wallyworld and they do fine.

None of the guys I know have had any luck with Wally World batteries.

I always go to a marine dealer and get 27 seriex 200 reserve amp deep cycle batteries. At the end of 4 years use, I give them away and buy new even though they are going strong.

I agree with the Wal Mart recommendation. I use the MAXX 27 and have no problems. When my TM batteries die, they will be the same one 75 bucks I think, but the returnability speaks for itself. I am budget minded so the Trojan or Optima is not in my range.

The MAXX 27 series at Walmart have an 18 month warrantee. They usually last me for 1 year and I take them back with my receipt and they exchange them for new batteries at no charge. I don't think you will find a better deal than that !!!!

I like the sealed acid batteries, but you have to hunt for them. The GEL ones are nice, but they are expensive and you have to go all Gel or all Acid. Not something you want to mix. The sealed acid batteries are lasting me from 5-7 years. The unsealed acid batteries were lasting me about 3 years. The last one I purchased was from O'Reily's Auto Parts.

I run Walmart batteries for 2 reasons: 1 price and 2 almost every town in America has a Walmart so you don't have to hunt for a place if you need a replacement.

The batteries I have now are about 2 yrs old and still going strong.

MAXX 27 series at Walmart. Some high dollar units seem to have slightly more push if run super hard for long hours but not enough to support the cost.

I've had great luck with Delco Voyagers, with my 82lb. 24 volt saltwater Motorguide. They are maintenance free, and are still going strong after 3+ years.
Even now, once charged up, they will hold the charge for several weeks, with no loss of power.
Check out bassboatcentral on the web, for a poll on batteries.

Ranger518, Had the same problem finding the 1000 amps for my Z boat. Interstate makes one its model# 27M-XHD. It has the 1000 cranking amps and 800 cold cranking that we need. You can go to any interstate dealer and they can get it for you. Around 100.00.

Same price at W/M to get the 29 series. I have started purchasing at W/M. You get 18 mon. warranty and there is a W/M nearly everywhere to replace them. I keep my receipts in my truck in the envelope they supply.

The walmart 29 series is only 850 amps and not the 1000 we need.
