I didn't really think today was going to be a good day with the bluebird skies and light winds. But it turned out to be not half bad at all. After checking a couple of spots with not much to show, I went shallow again and found some really good quality keepers out there. Only caught one slot fish today at 32 inches and around 10-11 lbs. I just hope those fish today stay in the area for awhile longer. I will be off this weekend if anyone wants to book a trip and get out there for some good fish. Water temp was down to 57 degrees...should be getting really good any day for big fish.

I had a pretty good fish pop my line out there right before dark that still has me pretty mad. It was brand new 25 lb test with 50 lb leader I just rigged up last night. Must have been a notch in the line somewhere on the main line because my drag was peeling. Man I wish I could be back out there in the morning. Why does work always stick it to us and get in the way at the worst times?

Just working and doing a little fishing here and there. I will hop on the FTP every once in a while. Gets boring beating you all the time. wink

Heading to the deer lease on Friday down in Llano Tx. Cant wait to pop a few hogs and hopefully a BIG buck. Probably take a doe if I dont see any shooter bucks if you want some venison. Might be able to give you some. My old lady would kill me if I stuffed the freezer with venison. de

I might take you up on that and swap you for some fish if you want to get some variety wink. I think this will be the first deer season I haven't hunted since I was 5 probably (but leaving lots more time on the lake) Good luck to you down there man.

Nice fish! I'm dumbfounded - I went drifting last night from 2-5:30 and only got a few small blues. I can't believe the fish are still shallow! I'm convinced you have somehow corralled all the decent size blues in lewisville and put them in the shallow areas in the northern part of the lake! :P

Nice catch, thanks for posting!

It was just like spring fishing out there. I saw shad flickering everywhere and a couple times a bluecat dorsal fin would be cruising the top of the water in the shallows. Really nice weather as well. I can't wait to get back out there.

If you want to learn how to fish the shallows for Blue's, Eric is the man, he can and will teach you how to catch Blue's in the shallows, and what to look for, and you can use this on your next trip and catch fish on your own! I went with Eric back in May and caught my PB Blue of 36 lbs, I know that the fish are not in the shallows year round, but when they are, it can get real fun real fast!!!

Met up with Eric, his brother, and Rookie 07 this morning for some shallow water fishin, there wasn't hardly any wind, but we caught some fish in the shallows, we didn't wear em out but we caught a few, no big fish but some good solid eaters!!!
There is 10 in this picture, but it's not a very good picture and you can't see them all, Eric and crew caught some more, maybe he can post some pic's, I hope he took some!!!

Only snagged one pic of a slot fish 31 inch that Brian (rookie 07) caught. Think we had a couple around 6 or 7 and the rest were eaters (around 15 total). Pretty slow bite in the shallows today for the most part but still fun fishing with everyone.
