Try a 7' 5/8 with 1 1/2 lb per ft. it will catch only the big cutters and it sinks fast for your deep water throws. try boat ramps in the middle of the day after the water warms a little.

Fritomick, I personally can't help you with the fishfinder ....if mine goes black I start throwing and see what size they are,If I come up with nothing I move on.I throw a betts blue water pro it cost like $119 so your net ought to be fine....don't give up the shad are just now starting their winter pattern

Try some of the coves towards the north end of the lake, I have never been to Tawokoni, but that is where I am finding them on Lewisville right now, and they are loaded with threadfins, but there are gizzards in there too, just a little harder to find!!!

I fish Tawak only. I get 90% of my shad and perch with a walmart 3' net in the coves. I always look for cleaning stations. I look for boat slips ,cleaning stations and bigger clumps of weeds are the best. shallow in the morning and late eve. I do sometimes get lucky in deep water but not much. Good luck!

phatolphart,
first off welcome!!! you can do what your talking about until the shad go into full winter mood then you will have trouble catching good cutter shad in shallow water... when you go deep the shad will simply outswim a small slow sinking net!!

Thanks Cloy. Big blue fishing was really good this weekend also, ended up with a 52,44,39,30,25,24,23, and many boxfish up to 15 pounds. I guess it was my turn as it seems like everyone has been catching more bigguns than me LOL.

I caught them deep and shallow, from 8 to 34 feet. 52,39,30 came shallow and the 44 and 20somethings came deep.
