Special thanks to Scott Yager over at sbt4u for letting me get my hands on some of the new metal lipped swimming plugs he's started stocking.

http://www.sbt4u.com/Topwater/Swimmer-p22.html.

It's no secret that striped bass sharpies from coast to coast have been catching fish on bottle style metal lipped swimmers for decades. So, as soon as Scott sent me information about the plug, I told him it would catch stripers in pretty much any venue.

What got my attention initially, was the quality finish, hardware and craftsmanship of the sbt4u swimmer plugs.

We started catching fish on them straight out of the box.

Just ask Xavier, River Run Guide Service client and TFF Member (Xman08) if they catch fish...

That's right these plugs work. It was amazing that within the first couple of casts the action started. Good thing YaknYota kept his eye on this one; I was hoping to bring it home to Oklahoma with me. Thanks for the link, now I can get my own.

Thanks Shane and HrT and congratulations to Xavier on the nice catch.

If you’ve clicked on the link Shane provided in his post you might be experiencing some sticker shock over the cost of these new lures. Please realize that these are hand-crafted right here in the USA. The lures are assembled with the best quality components available and are made to last. The thru-wire construction, heavy-duty swivels and hooks all come together to make these lures very high quality.

The swimmer that Shane and Xavier were using is a wooden floating lure. That can be retrieved slowly and has a side to side swimming action. We recommend using a Duo Lock Snap or putting a loop in your line when tying them on. This will allow for the most swimming action during the retrieve. We have the Duo Lock Snaps available on our site.

We also have a couple other new lures also made by Tattoo’s Tackle. The “Sea Pup” is the top lure on the picture below. This lure is 2 ounces and about the same length as a pencil popper (pencil popper is pictured in the middle for size reference). The Sea Pup has a larger diameter than a pencil popper and has a walk-the-dog action.

The bottom lure is a “Walking Stick” which looks similar to a pencil popper but is a little shorter. It is effective for both striper and hybrid.

I also want to let everyone know that our initial stocking on these lures is extremely low. We will be continually adding more quantities and colors overtime. If we’re out of the item/color you want. Send me an email at info@sbt4u.com and I’ll let you know when we get more of them.

Here is a link to all the new stuff:

Thanks,
Scott

If I'm not mistaken, some of the boys on another website
have been killing bluefin tuna up north to 180# on the sea pup.
that should attest to the strength of the lure.

Right on!

We've been schwacking some big largemouth down on the Middle Brazos the last few days with a variety of 5-8" swimming plugs, including the sbt4u plug. thumb
