Taking my dad to Monticello next week for some catch and release. Have to put him on some fish or I'm out of the will! Seriously, people talk about good numbers at this time around the highway bridge. What are good lures and are you fishing under the actual bridge, fishing the concrete slopping sides of the highway and which side of highway is better? The hot water side(north) or cold water side(south). Thanks, just trying to put us on some numbers....will put them all back for the next guy! 361V

Just go fishing. We catch fish everywhere we stop the boat.

All you need to catch fish on that lake is a drop shot and c-rig.

East winds put the brakes on fishing today. Only caught about 10 dinks. Few and far between bites. Normaly a great bite on the DS and CR. The ones that I caught were all less than a LB but hit hard and ate the sinko whole

Taking my dad Friday! Cloudy with 50% chance of rain. Actually sounds like a combination for success. Any info where and how for someone who hasnt been there in years is appreciated!

Many times Monticello is on when the weather is mean and nasty out.

If you want numbers go to the hot water discharge and throw a carolina rig with a 1 oz weight with about a 3' leader. Use a chartreuse pepper Centipede or Baby Rattlesnake. Try one side of the current if no success try the other side. Keep your boat just off to the side and throw toward the fast water. thumb

There is underwater riprap to keep the current from eroding the bottom on both sides. You will feel it. Most of the time the fish will hang just on the edge of the current.

The highway bridge is another good spot for numbers. Throw the same setup at all 4 corners of the bridge. One of them will normally be better than the others. It will be the one with two boats sitting on it... woot

If it is heavy overcast the RR bridge is another good place to get bit. Just fish the flat between the powerline wires and the RR bridge with the C-rig. Keep a Trap rigged to throw at any schoolers that may pop up.

If you don't know the timber fields stay out of them. The stumps there are brutal! Much worse than Fork. They are like concrete! bang

Good luck! fish
