I received this response from All Star....

Hi Joseph,

Those rods were discontinued those could be special make rods that were made for Academy only. And yes all of our products are made in China now.

Why are all star classic rods, sold at Academy, not listed on all stars' website? Where are all all star rods made? The classic rods say they are made in China. How is the process as good as before? Many people say the quality has suffered. Please shed some light so I can pass it on. Thanks.

You guys got it right. All Star does not produce any of their rods in the US anymore and many people do say that the quality has suffered. I do know where you can find a few of the original All Star rods that were made in Houston, Texas. Here are links to the website

If the technology is the same then it doesn't matter where it's made to me. I just see it as a better deal.

I remember when all those American Made car amps starting getting made overseas....and a lot of these same discussions occurred. But honestly in my opinion, I don't think the quality suffered. In fact, in some ways the newer made amps were less expensive and solidly built. Example - Orion Amps.

You boys better sell your American made trucks and your outboards too. They all have Chinese parts in them. I dont mind Chinese stuff myself. I would rather pay a nickle for something imported than 50 bucks for the same crappy quality in a American made product.

I don't want to start a rave, but I hope the labor unions are happy now that they have made our products too expensive and too junky.

America is now a service economy and not manufacturing anymore. We should adapt to the times.

But we're getting off topic here.
