Hi there. I'm new around here and I'm looking for help. I have been a long time saltwater fisherman but since I moved to Katy from Clear Lake a few years back getting out there is difficult. I have had a streak of bad luck lately and am looking for nearby fish. I just started freshwater fishing and am no expert but I need to catch fish soon before I go nuts. Where can I go nearby without a boat that is a proven spot? I have been to Peckham at least ten times since September and I swear there isn't a fish in that water besides koi and perch. I have seen two catfish come out of it in the last ten trips. I think they stopped restocking. The only good thing about Peckham is I finally figured out how to use a baitcast reel with all my free time.

Well, if you are interested, I fish Lake Conroe and I have a back seat open most of the time. I fish it mostly during the week, but occasionally hit it on the weekend.

Don't want or need your money for expenses.Been down that road of bad luck, so just let me know if you are interested.

This week is out due to contractors working on my kitchen, otherwise, I am open to go most any day.

there are a few bass in peckham park, but i do mean just a few. I went about a month ago and caught a couple on a white spinner bait. Dont be surprised if you catch a couple cats on that lure either. Those catfish can sure tear up a good spinner bait. I have also caught a few on a texas rigged trick worm as well. They will also start stocking rainbow trout in there pretty soon too.

Good luck and tight lines.

Thanks for the reply guys. During the week is tough for me since I am a teacher and coach afterwards but when I do get a free afternoon, I go. That's awesome to offer up a back seat like that to a complete stranger. I may take you up on that some time if I am headed in that direction. It takes as much time to get to Galveston as it takes me to get to Conroe and I love some saltwater fish.

Where do bass go in that pond? There is no structure at all besides the one pier and I'm told there is piping through the middle.

Looks as though Peckham and Tom Bass will start trout stock on Dec 2. Question is, what am I going to do until then? Maybe I'll go buy some ultralite gear since I don't have any, maybe try to figure out fly fishing too.

I don't have much of a problem catching saltwater fish. I'm actually good at that. Freshwater just has me stumped. Even catfish are kicking my butt these days and catfish used to just hop right into a frying pan when we fished out of my buddy's house on Lake Livingston.

You got a date and time before I go through the search on the TV? Lazy, I know. But what can I say, I'm a fisherman.

Welcome tk, I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to get into freshwater fishing but cant find a pond or lake around our area or near by. I usually fish saltwater once a week and it can get expensive real quick, but any advice about some secret spot would be helpful!

the bass in peckham pond are usually just roaming around. There isnt alot of them in there because they dont stock it like they do catfish. Just keep chucking away with some plastics and spinnerbaits and you will get bit eventually. I fish the pier everytime i go there and i havnt caught one yet off of it. I usually do better at the front of the pond or sometime at the very back when the weather is warmer.

I have caught a lot of good bass in the many Cinco Ranch ponds, course you may get chased out.

I have fished (years ago) at country club golf course ponds. Many are seldom fished, and potentially really good fishing. Maybe some phone calls would get permission to fish at some in your area.
