I missed the last couple of years but not going to let this year go by. I wonder if they are going to put browns at river park this year. I know it was done by the river authority.

For those of you in Tarrant County. Is it just me or is 2700 trout in Ber Creek Park in Keller seem like a lot? that pond is not very big. Oh well more for me I guess.
I also notices Bob Jones Park in Southlake is not on the list this year. too bad since thats just around the corner for me.

2 plantings in Keller coincide with the kid's fishing derby those Saturdays.

This year I will be fishing with self tied flies . Last year I had the best luck with an ultralight rig, 4# line, with small dark flies fished behind a plastic casting bubble. Most of my fishing was the hour before daylight which might of had some effect on the fly color. I fished a small city park duck pond in Longview that was just minutes from where I worked. Never had anyone else fishing at that hour. Had multiple hits almost every cast on a steady slow retrieve. I think the released trout have all been fed pellet food at certain times of the day but get hungry enough once release to hit almost anything that resembles food to them.

Power bait is on and off for me, over the years i've had success on it, but the colors will vary from day to day as trout are picky. I've had good success on the power eggs and salmon egg type baits. Small rooster tails have been good as well. Just remember, super light tackle! I love trout fishing, makes me want to move back to Colorado

Travis Travis, I'm up here in the Dallas area, but I picked it up real fast. Get yourself some tiny hooks.. no bigger than #6. Then get yourself some orange TROUT power bait. Make sure it says trout and not crappie. Super light rig.. just enough weight to keep the hook down, on a maximum 6# line... I really prefer 4#. Feel for the thumps. They bite about like crappie for me, just barely a little bump sometimes, and then pull. They'll give a wonderful fight for their size.. and the big ones are loads of fun!

I like Mikes Trout bait in rainbow color. I use a "Catfish" rig with a barrel weight and about 12" to 16" leader. I also had luck with a slip float rig. I do love to use the rooster tails but I can't cast so much anymore. HAVE FUN.

I am going to be in Bandera this weekend, doing a little hunting. Some small nephews will be in tow, and I'm thinking of giving this a try. I don't see how a cane pole couldn't work. What kind of bait would you suggest?

Some folks swear by corn. The only thing I've ever known that to catch is carp.
Some folks swear by tiny marshmallows... again... all I've ever caught was carp.
Go get some tiny #6 hooks and some trout powerbait. They'll keep your nephews busy all day long.
