The Premier at around $150 is a better deal than the STX at $130 IMO.
if you've never used a super light reel, it will be hard going back to a 8oz plus reel after using one.
either way, they are great deals right now.

I bought two Revo Premiers from tackle warehouse about 3 months ago. they worked fine until this past weekend. One of them started acting like it was binding. meaning, while I was reeling in, it would suddenly feel a little harder to reel in. I have to try and find my receipt so I can send it back.

Rockwall_Ranger.... Your "binding" is probably caused by junk building up in the pawl. Either blow it clean or brush it clean. A little WD-40 afterwards will help as well.

I looked at when it started acting up. However, did not have my glasses. I will check when I get home.. Thank you for the tip.!!!!

3 out of 3 of the Revo's I've had since 2007 are as good as new for me...
Their levelwinds are suspect for guming up or getting debri that causes the reels to make a little noise/vibration which is kind of unusual, but so far a little cleaning and they go back to like new. They respond much better to oiling the levelwind than light grease or grease + oil. I freshwater fish only, so an oil only levelwind is not a problem for me.
I can see how this would be an issue to those who don't work on their own reels though.
Heck, I sent one to be cleaned and it came back makingnoise/vibration when it was perfect when I sent it off...one of the reasons I learned how to work on reels myself.

I fish with 7 Revos. 1 SX, 5 STX, & 1 Premier. I bought them in 2006 when they 1st came out, and the premier I bought when they were released. I have never had these cleaned or re-lubed. I do wipe them down after each use, and keep the pawl & worm gear clean & greased, but thats the only maintenance these reels have needed. All still cast a mile, are smoothe, and a joy to fish with. Buy a REVO, I think you'll like it.

i found one on ebay back in August for $175...it wasn't even due for wide release until late september/october. I was about to pull the trigger on a $150 older model so I had to take the new one for $25 more.
