Took the cover off the Skeeter the other day and found thousands of ants on the back of the boat. They had crawled up the extra length of rope and tie down straps and were working along the back edge of the boat down to the bilge area. Any one else had this problem and how do I get rid of them???
It happened once before and I spread ant kiler on the ground in my storage area.

Ant motels should do the trick. Not messy.

I hate ants. They are such a pain to deal with. Some one tell me what they are good for except keeping anteaters alive? And do we really need anteaters if there werent any ants?

Same goes for wasps.

Several years ago I launched at Fayette, started my Merc, looked back and made sure the water pump was working and headed across the lake. Just before getting to the other side, I blew a powerhead. When I took the motor apart,I found a wad of ants had clogged the thermostat. They had apparently denned up somewhere in the water intake. Cost me a pile of money.

Yep...same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago when we had all that rain...took cover off boat and the fire ants were in one big pile near the transome wedged between one of the compartments...Raid took care of them.

I had this happen as well. I emptied my compartments, opened all of them, put the cover on the boat and set off 2 bug bombs. The next day I took the cover off, hauled her to the carwash for a bath and never had any issues with ants again.

I had the same problem when ants nested under the styrofoam filled seats of my little Jon boat!

I used two cans of Raid and thought I had killed them all. Two weeks later we were on the lake and they swarmed out all over us!

Beat it to shore and they were in our clothing, biting like crazy. Luckily no one was at the refuge ramp and grandson and I stripped down and hit the water. We got multiple bites.

These were fire ants that got in my boat. I stayed with the Raid for two weeks, spraying every morning. The boat is "ant free" now.
