What is your favorite way to bait out a cat fishing hole? What would you suggest for winter cats?

soured wheat or grain. range cubes work but a little slower in my opinion, but a whole lot easier to deal with. good luck

On Ivie I use wheat to bait holes,It's free. Seems to sour better than milo. Also put cow cake in a onion sack and drop it in hole

I got this information from George Rule... He spoke to a bioligist (sp) and he said that the catfish will eat milo, corn and oats... but end up just throwing it all up. The biologist said that when you feed them with Wheat.... the catfish digest it and it helps them grow. So I have started using strictly wheat... it works just as good and hopefully im helping the ones i dont catch grow bigger : )

Yes, you can buy wheat at TS. Look at the small feed stores and you might get a better deal than TS though
My dad and I bought cleaned seed wheat (untreated) for $11 a bushel where you pay $15 for 50lbs of feed wheat at the feed store.

You do know that you're mostly going to attract Channels right? I've never really seen a difference in baiting/non baiting when blues are involved. I do like the guys above. I sour wheat in a 55gallon drum out back of the barn. I add to it from time to time either wheat, water, and sometimes deer corn after the season is over. Bait 5 holes and then comeback and fish the first one baited. Wait 20 minutes if you're not into the fish move to hole #2 and so on and so forth. Good Luck.

How much do you put out in each baited hole?

I usually put out one small coffe can full in each hole, and don't just dump it straight down, fan it out in an area so the fish are moving around looking for it.
