I went out to san luis every time there is a big northern blown thru emptying the bay.I would count countless fresh indentation of lots of flounder on the expose sand flats, close to the shallow meets the deep channels. There is a channel that goes parallel to the shoreline a good walking distance out.Galveston side,Bay side, straight across the toll booth.Next time I go out there I will mark all the indentation spot on my GPS,and the channels. Will share this info.My advice fish on a high tide.Use your depth finder.Find where the shallow meets the deep.Anchor on the shallow side.Work an area.If it does not produce fishes.Move around until you find them. They are most definitely there on those sand flats.

Thanks addicted, it sucks when you do not know what you are doing! I went there this past summer with my wife and everybody was catching left and right except us. My wife finally caught a hammerhead shark, and that was the highlight of the trip.
Of course we are very talented hardhead catchers, LOL.

Yea I could probably be a good fishing guide if it came to catching hard heads.

if u can get some live finger mullet or live shrimp, fish them on the bottom with egg sinker and drag them slowly, you should be able to catch some flounder, red, or whatever its bitting there.

I don't want to sound 'dumb', but when you guys abbreviate things, I have no idea what or where you are talking about. What is SLP?

Alright, I promised a report so here it is! Was out there from 7am until 3pm, 5 people, we got about 20 sting rays, about 15 whitings, not that many hardheds. Arround 2 PM my dad got a really big bite and he starts reeling in thinking it let go, and then he had a huge surprise, a black drum (about 25-30 inches), whom decided to jump out of the water and give us a show, at which time he broke the line, really, really mad about that one (30lb line). Fast forward about 10 minutes and my sister get a bite and the fish just takes off, spooling her. Never saw this fish, but must have been pretty big to bend the damn hook and get away. After that I got really mad and we packed up and went home empty handed. After all was said and done it still was an awesome fishing day.

Was out there early monday morning wading for flounder to no avail. Which is very unusual out there this time of year. We were using live mullet and various gulp mullet, shrimp, and pogys but no luck. Probably should have tried near and around the old pier. There were tons of people wading on the galveston side on the surf side of SLP though. I wonder if they did any good..... We left SLP around 10 and headed over to Seawolf. Waded around and caught 3 limits in about an hour or two and headed out to freeport quintana jetty. Caught a whole lotta nuthin! Then as we were packing up to head out I see a guy next to me land 4 mangrove snappers, another guy land a keeper flounder, and a keeper sheepshead. Guess I should have waited a bit huh?
Anyways, I don't know why, but SLP is really hit or miss these days. I think we'll have to wait till it gets a little cooler. By the way, for those of you who care, they are rebuilding the old RV park and I think they'll have the lights up and running real soon, which means PRIME TROUT FISHING!
