that is correct. I am putting in my two cents that, no matter what else, some folks meeting on Black Friday could be a good thing.

Only thing is, I am getting sick and tired of wading in from Texas side and need to get some floatyness to go in from Oklahoma and out to where big mamma resides

If this event blows up BIG - it could be the demise of black friday and the start of "Red Friday" with millions of lonely 6:30 store managers all sad and 'wtf'? opening crowdless doors to empty lots. Pre Week long news blurbs of folks buying cheap fly combos by the scads. Folks 30 deep along the Red, all our important and smiling faces interviewed with " Back in the day...' comments sigh...

Is wading difficult or not allowed on the okie side of the river?

It's easier to wade in from the TX side, but easier to get in the water with a floating conveyance from the OK side - and the floating conveyance gives you more options to chase more fish.

No, wading is better on the Okie side as it is a big sandy beach. Texas side is rocks and trash, tip toeing out while trying to not fall down into the mono, crank baits and old diapers.

having a floaty thing and launching from Oklahoma puts one out over the deep water without needing to spend an hour sweating bullets and taking leaps of faith to get out to where one can perch on a submerged rock (OK, that is my subjective point of view on wading out very far from Texas bank) and try to keep one's balance while casting and hoping that a giant striper will take the fly and at the same time hoping that a giant striper does not take the fly because then you'd be in the same situation as my aunt's poodle when it finally did catch up to that squirrel one day "whatcha gonna do now?"

Being pulled about on the Red River in a float tube or canoe would be elegant. Getting pulled in off of your rock would suck at Dyson levels.

I guess where I have put in from that beach it seems to get fairly deep pretty fast... and for all the reasons you mentioned, I definitely prefer taking the tube up there. Frankly, I doubt I'll ever wade-fish that water again. The rocks are slicker than anything I've ever walked on and it is a solid mess of mono too. Much more pleasant in something that floats.

And I'm guessing that it's too shallow to make it feasible to attack this location in the Green Weenie?

I see folks out there in boats all the time. Scott Bridgess takes his Boston Whaler in there alot. The water is fine, it's more an issue of getting launched as there is no ramp, just a sandy beach. Scott's advice was 4WD only. Anyone else have launch tips for trailered boats on the Red below Denison?

Bring a $ 20 and pay a local 4 wheel to launch you

Bring a pump and drop your tires to 4 lbs pressure = drive in and out

Bring a long tow rope and get yanked out of the stuck while the crowds go wild

Bring a twelve pack and pay for a hand push

That does make wading sound a lot easier, Steve. Especially when I think of my poor old 1 ton slick-tired Dodge stuck in the Okie sand.

I wouldn't put a motor boat in up there unless I knew exactly where I was going, the rocks are great in number and un-remorseful...also if wading the vast number of rusty hooks and fishing line is treacherous.

Yeah - you dont really need a motor at all for the top

there is another hot pool 3 ? miles down

plus like 400 more miles of river behind that
plus then the ocean, and thats another 1.2 million miles of shore, infinite circling.... navigating, pirates, capture...

best pack a lunch
