Most of you have seen his reports and always talk about eventually going on a trip with him. Well I finally made it happen. Shane takes the fishing guide profession to an entirely different plateau. From the first minute until the last, he worked his butt off for us. He consistently put us on fish throughout the day, even though I had trouble closing the deal a few times. I don't think I have ever been more satisfied with a day of fishing. If you have been considering a trip with Shane, just book it. It's worth every nickel. He will probably have a better report to follow this up, but I wanted to express my gratitude. Here are a few pictures I took: We started off with some topwater action. Xavier put a hurtin' on me today. Good scenery A healthy LMB caught by Xavier And the theme of the day, especially for me Fish on!!! Fish off Here's a nice striper Xavier caught Xavier and Shane, it was a pleasure fishing with you

looks like another great outing! i am there in less than a month and can't wait Here are a few things I learned: 1) Sleep more than 1 hour the night of your trip and don't eat crummy food from a gas station before hand. Otherwise, you might get sick for a few hours and start vomiting over the side of your yak like I did. 2) When you hook up with a solid fish, keep him away from the rocks. 3) When an even bigger fish makes a run with your 10+ inch gizzard shad and has enough power to swiftly yank your yak in the opposite direction, don't get too excited or you'll lose focus and lose your fish. Shane will do everything in his power to put you on fish. He just can't catch them for you.

Ryno, Superb synopsis! It was a pleasure spending time on that beautiful river with you and Shane. I too will echo some of your comments: Shane is relentless in his approach to fishing, particularly out of a yak. I learned more in those hours out on the river than in years of trial and error. Fishing with Shane is about fun, fish, learning and some great laughs with a little PT- I just can’t say enough. For those of you under consideration, to borrow an old cliché, just do it! Ryno is right on - You will have a monumental time. I considered it for over a year and am so glad I finally dropped the hammer. If you need to split a trip contact me I’ll go in a heartbeat! Another tip, watch your hook set on circle hooks or it’s fish off. Oh and lest I forget, always pivot at the waist in a yak, I tried to flip over but being agile for a one eyed fat man I kept her upright. Damn close call. Thanks for posting those pics and until next time, tight lines

Ryno...just noticed you guys were there yesterday. Were you guys on the river when the front came in? If so, how did it affect the fishing?

Ryno...just noticed you guys were there yesterday. Were you guys on the river when the front came in? If so, how did it affect the fishing? No, the front came in right after. The LMB were extremely active though. Towards the end of our trip, we couldn't keep them off our baits. We're talking about LMB inhaling 10-12" gizzard shad.

I think the expectation of poor weather kept all but us on the river too.

You guys are too kind!
I thoroughly enjoyed being on the river with you both and greatly appreciate your business.
I'll be sure to get a full report and more pics up in the next day or so.
Congrats on your personal bests!
The lost fish were heartbreakers. However, it happens.

Gizzard shad? You were using live bait?

Gizzard shad? You were using live bait? Yup. We were targeting striper. Xavier caught a few. I just didn't get any pictures of them.

Hey Shane, where do you normally put in? How far from the Dallas area? Do you not have a web site?

10-12" gizzard shad?!... wow... that does a lot to debunk the myth about how you gotta fish with small baits for river bass!!!
Yep, I'll need to do one of those brazos trips one of those days!!!
