posted this in the 'on the road' section but only got one reply. Can anyone help on this - we're going to drive down Tuesday.

Well, the week-long South padre trip got scuttled due to a death in the family, so it looks like we're gonna just take the boat down to Galveston for 1-2 days next week after everything has settled down ... my in-law is gonna need the getaway more than me I think. Anyone have recommendations on where to stay that my boat & trailer will be reasonably safe overnight? Also would help if it's not more than say ... $60/night? We don't mind heading back up 45 a few miles or staying around La Marque, texas City etc.

Thanks

baymont suites is really good. King suite for only $50 a night. It's right off seawall blvd behind the golden corral. Of all the places that I've stayed at in galveston, it's probably the best value. Clean and very spacious room with fridge and freezer. Great for storing your catches for the day!

Hows the trailer parking & relative safety of ones boat while staying there?

It's a pretty safe place based on my own personal experience. You might want to call them and ask them about the trailer parking.

Well, stayed at Gaidos & I thought it was mediocre. But, $50/night for two people with a secure parking lot for the boat and being able to load up on ice made up for mediocre.
