Well, the week-long South padre trip got scuttled due to a death in the family, so it looks like we're gonna just take the boat down to Galveston for 1-2 days next week after everything has settled down ... my in-law is gonna need the getaway more than me I think. Anyone have recommendations on where to stay that my boat & trailer will be reasonably safe overnight? Also would help if it's not more than say ... $60/night? We don't mind heading back up 45 a few miles or staying around La Marque, texas City etc.

Thanks

Zeek, I wish I could help ya bud, but I have never paid less than $89 a night in the area....and that was this past summer. I stayed a night at the Quality inn or Comfort inn on Seawall blvd...I cant remember which. ( same company, "Choice" Hotels chain.) But you could NOT park a boat in the one where I stayed....no room to maneuver. I usually stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, but it's usually over $120 a night. It DOES have a gated parking lot, though. Wish I had better info for ya.

Maybe too late to help, but we always stay at Gaidos.

It's been a few years since we were there, but last time was off peak season and we paid less than $50. Peak is closer to $100.

It's not a fancy place by any means, but the rooms are large and best of all clean!

From what I remember, you should be able to maneuver a trailer in the back parking lot. Dont know if you would have a view of it from the room though.

We have never had a problem one staying there.

don't know if u have already been or not but la marque has a super 8 ($60-$70 a night) a few miles up from the causeway. if that doesn't tickle yer fancy, we have stayed the last 2 times at "inn at the waterpark" ($70 a night) last 2 times we have been there and that was one trip in aug and one trip in sept......

You might want to see if the Yacht Basin can accommodate your boat overnight and then you don't have to worry about it.
