Get Richard to tell you the story, recent, about the guys who swamped then swam down 3 miles back to the bridge.
The story ends with how much the shoreline gets more prickly when the H2O is 2 ft high and rising.

2 ft high..... and rising....

2 ft high..... and rising.... ...

Wow - that reminds me of Johnny Cash a' singing

'5 ft High and Rising'

Come everybody, sing along

This reminds me of our 16 to 4 trip against wind with BaffinBay looking to bribe anybody we could find to tow him to safety. I think he even contemplated trying to guess where the nearest road was to try and hoof it out...

Paddling to stay in place and not lose ground was the name of the game:)

Oh dont you hate that moment
when you start to rethink....
.. if you would just turn around...
and paddle downstream
oh man, you would so sooo

haul

[censored]

you'd go nowhere

but you'd get there fast

kinda like being thirsty out on the ocean

or

feeling randy when you're at your
mum's family reunion

more stuff you can't do

It sucks.. I found myself doing more dragging than paddling in the few times I encountered these conditions.
