We were using live mullet we caught right there at the jetty. A few guys were using cut bait. We had just as good of luck using the lives one though.

yes sir. Buddy of mine throwing it right off the rocks. You couldn't miss them, one throw netted at least 25.

i usually fish there during spring and summer, my long rods with cut bait usually do well on bull red..then i have a 9 ft rod with the tri ring swivel, tie a 8 ft line with #6 trouble hook and the other side tie a weighted cork to help to cast it far out..this way the shrimp is free and got a wide range area to swim around, we have use live mullet as well, we catch kings out there when the water condition is perfect.

That would have to be on the North jetty on the surfside side of the jetty. The other jetty is referred to the quintanna jetty and it is not paved all the way down.

Great Catch and good advice on the bait. I wonder if you can also catch mullet at the intercoastal?

LOL Boudreaux is absolutely correct. Don't think my chair would handle the Quintana Jetty very well. LOL

That's probably why so many fishermen pay the $12 to get to the N. Jetty. Comfort, and acessability to the end of the jetty. That price, I thought, was a little extreme for the short journey, but guess it's worth it after all!

Fishlady,
I still think you have something confused. There is no charge for the Surfside Jetty. We are talking about the jetty's that go into Freeport harbor.

Nope fished on bottom as far out as I could chunk it. You just have to reel really fast when your bringing it back it. Keep the hook and weight on top of the water. Got hung up once or twice, but it wasn't bad at all.
