Just took up fly tying and don't know a whole lot yet.
Did make up some small wholly bugger gigs for bream fishing.
Got a question:
Instead of using a jig hook, would winding some lead wire around the shank near the eye work like a jig?

Yes Sir. You can also crimp a small split shot or clam shot on the shank to form a head.
