here is my story....... sorry if it is a little long

I have a 97 skeeter zx 180 that i use to tournament fish. I bought this boat in january and called my local insurance guy that wrote my truck and bike policys to set up my boat insurance. I told him that i didnt want to cut corners and i wanted good insurance and i didnt care what i paid. ( Im a 22 year old male, so i am used to paying outrageous amounts) he set me up with progressive and assured me that it was what i needed, so i went along with myself and had a good time on my boat knowing that if something happened i would be covered.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hit a piling pre fishing for a sunday morning tournament on Conroe, so i took my boat to the shop to get it fixed because i had insurance... http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...ce_#Post4142869

Well long story short progressive didnt want to cover anything and wanted to send me on my way. The adjusters were not helpful they never called me and never updated me on anything. But then i got ahold of bob and he explained everything to me. Since i did not talk to a Marine specialist about my insurance coverage on my boat i purchased a plan that really was wrong a ACTUAL CASH VALUE policy. THIS IS THE WRONG POLICY AND WILL SCREW YOU IN THE END.... He worked his magick and the next day the adjusters called me and they were being overly nice to me. They sped up my claim bye a week and met me that day at the boat shop to go over everything. something they told me they would do within the next 2 weeks. Well they covered the bottom but not the transom. Bob (insurancepro) went out of his way to help me even though he didnt have to. The claim made a complete 180. Before i talked to him i was looking at having to hire a lawyer and not having my boat fixed until next season, I have a little one on the way (december 29) so i do not have the money to fix the entire boat and i dont have time to wait.

The sad part is that my insurance only had a 25,000 dollar liability limit that even dq'd me from club tournaments and i had no idea. The part that really bothered me is that Bob quoted me with another company with 300,000 limit on everything and completly better insurance for 30 dollars cheaper a year.. I went through so much BS with this claim and when i was at my last with with progressive bob stepped up and helped me when my agent didnt do anything to help me at all.. Bob will get all of my business and i will tell everyone about my problems here..

IF A MARINE SPECIALIST DIDNT WRITE YOUR POLICY CALL BOB..

That bites, but I am curious. I did my boat insurance online with Progressive, and I selected and maxed out coverage on every option possible. The one thing I did do, was that the value of the entire boat was an agreed cash value amount.

With that said, if I maxed all coverage out then set the agreed cash value of the boat as a whole, is that going to screw me over? Or do I need to go visit a live person from Progressive to make any changes required to my current policy?

Josh, I appreciate the kind words. I'm just glad I was able to help. I enjoy educating the members here on Marine insurance. Thanks Bob Luellen

He's not lucky. He has Karen at State Farm in Carrolton, Texas. I do too! thumb If I didn't have Karen, I'd check out Bob. Karen writes all my insurance though.
