I won't be asking again.
Yes we are having the toy drive.

Thank you, that's all I was asking.

I am simply asking if there will be a collection of toys made this year?

I think last year we had a marine there to take the toys for us but i am sure it wouldn't be hard for someone to volunteer dropping the toys off to a Toys For Tots location which will be at any mall in the metroplex.

So i say YES, why not donate toys to children less needy.

can you pickup my dry cleaning while youre out

This toy drive is handled by someone here on the forum.

I just remember him walking around with a limp because his back was hurt from a car accident or something.

I need to get clarification from Sharon on collecting toys. Last year and if I remember the year before as well they went to a very nice charity locally where people are screened and basically get a preset "amount" they can spend towards the toys and they pick up gifts for their kids. JP can better answer this and the name escapes me at the moment but we both have toured the facility and it is legit. I also like the fact that there is accountability which makes donating easier. They are an accredited charity as well.

I would prefer the toys go to a local charity myself.

I agree. As this thing has grown over the years one thing JP and I have wanted is to have as much accountability on the donations as possible to avoid any issues or doubts. I like the fact that we all can know where they are going and who benefits. This time of year lots of folks are asking for donations and its hard to say yes to all of them but we appreciate those that help with this toy drive. It goes a long way in making some kids have a good Christmas.

If you go with the local charity and help is needed to deliver the toys I have a truck and would gladly help deliver them.

Not sure, but I think they went to GRACE last year. If so, It is a great local organization that we do a lot of work with.

That happened once. As far as I know they now go to GRACE. The other issue is Toys For Tots has a deadline date and I am not sure what it is. I like the GRACE aspect especially after JP had me go through the tour of the place.

Mr. Perry I have been to exactly one Christmas Party and it was at the Hard 8 in Coppell last year. Most of us brought a toy or toys to donate. Gambit was the Marine who was in charge of the whole thing. The Toys went to Toys for Tots and were distributed to kids in the Metroplex by the Marines.
If you doubt that go research the Christmas Party from last year.
I may be getting old but my brain still works and I dang well remember the toy drive.

I don't mean to be a hard head. All I was trying to find out was if there was going to be a Toys for Tots drive this year. I did not get an answer so I tried three more times and pretty much got blown off, then made fun of in another childish post.

As of right not I am not thinking very highly of some people I used to respect. I am at the point that I am not going to the Party this year although I had a very good time meeting people last year.

Now you people can't even remember what went on at then party last year.

The toys went to http://www.gracegrapevine.org for two years, then there was some confusion due to miscommunication last year and they went to T4T. Both the Marines Toys for Tots drive and Grace are good choices. We may just split them down the middle this year.

First and foremost I did not see your posts about the toys until today. Sharon heads up the Christmas party and has for years and does a great job. Sorry your question went unanswered but perhaps a PM to one of the mods or Sharon would have helped get you an answer faster. There are thousands of posts on here and contrary to belief we don't see them all and are not online all the time. As far as others making fun of your question I know nothing about that and do not need to lumped into that group. I gave an answer because quite frankly the toy drive was something near and dear to me that I started back at year one of the Christmas party. I have normally helped handle the drive each year. I did not coordinate it last year because I had a broken back during that time. I will not comment on the person that took the toys last year or what was actually planned cause quite frankly I was not involved. Personally I don't care who or what or where they go as long as its legit and kids are helped.
Now that being said I hate to hear you are considering not coming. You are a fixture here on the TFF and highly regarded. Do not let a few buttheads ruin your chance to enjoy great company. People often mean no harm when making comments that they think are funny but may not be. The keyboard often distorts that. Again I hope you reconsider and do not judge the TFF as a whole because of a few goobers.

Gambit was not in charge of the whole thing. Like said above there was some confusion and they went to T4T. Either way they went for a good cause.

OMG, why don't everyone bring a toy to the christmas party and not be concerned with exactly were the donation goes to, but be glad that some child will have a better christmas than he or she would have if we hadn't of brought a toy. Now that being said, we still have a tremendous amount of donations being pledged daily. I'ts getting hard to keep up with but I will do my best. I look forward to seeing all you guys and gals this year knowing we are going to have a great TFF Christmas party.

I'm with Perry on this one. We've been giving the toys to Grace in the past with the exception of last year. It is a local organization what helps kids right here in own own back yards. In years pasts, we have had several TFF'rs volunteer to help pass the toys out to the kids as they come through the lines. It really gives us a much better chance to interact with the community.

The T4T was a good idea, but I like the Grace Concept much better. We can help kids right here in our own areas.

Either way, giving yoys for kids is great. But I personally would prefer the toys going to Grace.

BTW: Sharon, thanks for doing this again this year. I've always had a great time at the Christmas parties. Some times I've had too much fun!

this sounds like a great time, and for a greater cause while having it...
do we have to rsvp by a certain date? or just show up?
