Anyone know anything about this set of ponds? Any bass in them? Fishable? Kayakable? Access roads?

Or if that link doesn't work, go to google maps and look up "Chambers Elementary School in Houston, TX".
Then look at the satellite view. (These ponds/lakes don't show up on the map view, only on the satellite view.)

I noticed all the signs around saying not to leave valuables in one's car. I'm from the DFW area, and I'm not used to seeing all these warnings (although there are a couple of places where you don't want to leave your vehicle, such as at Mountain Creek Lake or the west side of Lake Arlington). I was wondering what things were like at that park if one parked and fished at night. (I can guess what your patrol buddies will say.)

Those ponds have been around only for a few years so I wouldn't think the fishing would be too good yet; but I might be wrong!
If you're in the area give 'em a try and let us know.

p.s. if you see any carp crashing the surface I'd love to know that, too! wink

I stopped by Bane tonight and tried a dark spinnerbait with single colorado blade on it. Pretty pond, lots of weeds in it and big clumps of tall reeds along the shore, extremely clear water. But despite it being just two nights past full moon, I didn't get any bites. Maybe after all those baseball lights go off, but then the lake part is locked up. I'll have to try it again. Usually that lure works at night for me.
I did try to drive over and check out Jersey Lake, but it was completely surrounded by houses with fences. I'd be interested to know what that lake is like -- maybe worth buying a house there?

This is the ConocoPhillips office campus; gate security, etc. No way to fish those.

The second one (old westheimer rd) is in a gated community; no access unless you know someone. Never fished them, but they look interesting from the tollway.

Just to the west of Eldridge, over the levee north of I-10 there is a public access pond; I've caught a couple of small (8 ") bass as well as some small sunnies, a bullhead, carp, gar, and saw a bowfin caught.

I went by there one day and tried casting into that middle pond. Water level was a little up over the banks. No luck with bass but would like to go back at night if the car-break-into people and the alligators would leave me along. Have to park at the little parking lot by Addicks-Howell Rd.

I drove by that pond on Old Westheimer Rd just north of Westpark Tollway (Think the road is now celled Houston Center Rd or something like that.) Big bad smell from that area.

That sounds like the area I saw recently below Lake Houston dam on the river in Eisenhour Park -- what was that area called -- Deep Bend or something like that? Looked like a good place to launch and can get into the river from there. When I was there water was up a little over normal banks and somewhat muddy. Probably not likely to be safe to go there until sometime after Ida passes.

That's it. Met some nice people fishing there. Plan to go back with the yak soon. Think I'll hit Lake Fayette first.
